If you want to enjoy the view, I think it's better to make a reservation at night. There are several boat companies that cross the Brisbane River, but they operate different sections, free boats, and routes, so you should choose one that suits your conditions. I had the impression that the number of free boats was a little low. But the boat ride was very convenient.
