Back to Dali, staying at InterContinental Dali Resort

Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture is located in the west-central part of Yunnan, at the junction of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the Hengduan Mountains. Its main rivers belong to four major water systems: Jinsha River, Lancang River, Nu River, and Red River. Since the Neolithic Age, ethnic minorities such as the Bai and Yi have lived and multiplied here. During the Tang and Song dynasties, local regimes like the Nanzhao Kingdom and Dali Kingdom emerged. It's also the intersection of the Yunnan-Tibet Highway and the Burma Road. For our Southwest journey, the return trip was by car, so we took it slow, driving 200-300 km each day. From Lijiang to Dali, we took the Dali-Lijiang Expressway. Yunnan's highways are in excellent condition, and the service areas are spacious and well-maintained. We stopped at Heqing and Shangguan service areas to rest, relax, walk around, and enjoy the scenery. We drove along the eastern shore of Erhai Lake all the way to our hotel on the southern shore - InterContinental Dali Resort. This was my second stay at this hotel. The hotel enjoys an excellent location on Binhai Avenue, next to Xiaguan's Erhai Park. The lobby is on the second floor and is beautiful, where you can enjoy some wine and drinks while taking in the views. The lobby connects buildings A and B, all rooms have nice views, and the dining options are excellent. The underground parking is also convenient. Just be sure to avoid traveling during holidays, as the lake road can get very congested. We rested here for two nights before heading to our next destination, Panzhihua. Upper Pass Wind, Lower Pass Flowers, Cangshan Snow, Erhai Moon - goodbye Dali, wonderful times.
