[Hong Kong] "Hong Kong Polyhedron" Exhibition: An Immersive Experience of Hong Kong's Century-Long Social Changes

The Hong Kong Museum of History, located on the 2nd floor, has been revamped and now features the "Hong Kong Polyhedron" immersive exhibition: with a black background and spotlighting, it offers a unique old Hong Kong atmosphere! Starting from 170 years ago with Hong Kong's first Chinese non-official member of the Legislative Council, the exhibition takes you through different eras, showcasing the contributions of Chinese, British, and even Portuguese people to Hong Kong's social development: it turns out the Portuguese contributed a lot not only in Macau but also in Hong Kong! They provided education, maintained law and order, bravely resisted the Japanese, boosted the economy, and brought delicious Portuguese cuisine! There is also a large display of post-war 1960s burgeoning Hong Kong light industry and residents' daily life: including washboards, sewing machines, medicated oil, even models of the older generation Star Ferry, the red "Black-mouthed Dog" double-decker bus model, the first generation MTR train model, and the Observatory No. 9 typhoon signal model... so many cultural elements that have been forgotten, all revived in one exhibition! On the upper level of the exhibition, there is a special exhibit about the history of Chinese migration and the development of the Chinese American community, which is also well worth a visit; on the same floor is the famous "National Security Exhibition Hall," which is also worth exploring to understand the development achievements of China and Hong Kong!
