Conquering Sai Kung Solo: A Weekday Adventure! 🇭🇰🌊

#summervacay I recently pulled off a full-day trip to Sai Kung on a weekday, and it was absolutely worth the journey! Getting There: My journey started from Guangzhou South to Futian Station. After clearing customs at Futian Port, I hopped on the MTR from Lok Ma Chau. I got off at Sha Tin (Exit A3), which took about 40 minutes and cost around HKD 35.5 (you can use your Alipay/WeChat Pay for this!). Once out of the station, I walked into the mall, found the Coach store, and then faced Coach, there's an escalator on the left. I took that down to the first floor, walked to the back right, and spotted the 299X double-decker bus directly to Sai Kung. This ride was around HKD 11.7 and took about 40 minutes (also payable with Alipay/WeChat Pay!). Island Hopping & Glassy Waters: On the day I went, "Mao Kee" (a popular boat operator) was closed, so I took another boat called "Wah Kee" to the island. The round trip was HKD 40, and the boatman was a very tanned uncle with a humorous Hong Kong-style Mandarin accent – he was hilarious! Make sure to hold onto your ticket, as you'll need it for the return trip. I chose to get off at Half Moon Bay (月半湾), and that's where I saw the incredible "glassy sea" – truly stunning! The last boat back was at 5 PM. Sai Kung Charm: Back at the pier, there were tons of delicious food stalls and adorable dogs wandering around. Most places here accept cash, so be prepared! The sea in Hong Kong is so blue and incredibly therapeutic. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just want to head out, wander around, enjoy the journey, and clear my head.
