Boonchoou – Authentic Thai Flavours in Melbourne

Nestled in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, Boonchoou Thai Restaurant offers a modern Thai dining experience with an open kitchen that lets you watch the chefs in action — a nice touch that adds energy and transparency to your meal. We ordered a variety of dishes, starting with the flavorful Koong Ob Woonsen (prawns with glass noodles in claypot), the classic Tom Yum Koong with its perfect spicy-sour balance, and Khao Pad Mon Nue – fragrant fried rice with herbal notes. The Pad Pla Muak Nahm Dam (stir-fried squid in black ink) was a standout, rich and uniquely delicious. For dessert, we tried two new menu items: the Bua Loy Kra Chek (banana blossom dumplings in warm coconut milk), which was comforting and creamy, and the Som Chun Granita, a refreshing icy citrus dessert that perfectly cleansed the palate. Washed it all down with Cha Ma Now (Thai lime tea) – tangy, sweet, and absolutely thirst-quenching.
