Day 1 While searching for a beautiful and affordable hotel, we ended up booking the 5-star Ryukyu Hotel in the southern area (the hotel itself is artistically stunning). However, since there was nothing around the hotel, we checked in at 5:30 PM, rested briefly, and then drove an hour to the famous American Village. ‘Ah... we should’ve just stayed in this area for the first night.’ It was frustrating to be in such a beautiful and lively place but unable to enjoy even a single beer due to driving. After another hour-long drive, we returned to the Ryukyu Hotel for the night. Day 2 After checking out at 11 AM, we decided to visit Sesoko Beach, said to be the prettiest beach. It’s a 2-hour drive from Ryukyu Hotel. Parking fee for the whole day: 10,000 won. Renting a parasol and sunbed: 42,000 won. The ocean was breathtakingly beautiful, so it was worth it. After enjoying the beach, we headed to our second hotel. Moon Beach Museum Resort (1 hour from Sesoko Beach). The hotel had an izakaya nearby, was aesthetically pleasing, and was affordable—very satisfying. The biggest downside was the outdoor pool area, which only had about 10 sunbeds, leading to an awkward situation. Staff assistance was lacking. Still, the stunning scenery and atmosphere made up for it. Day 3 After checking out, we visited Umikaji Terrace. Every photo taken here looks like a magazine shoot. However, there’s very little shade, so you’ll end up buying drinks frequently. After returning the rental car, we said goodbye to Okinawa. Review Summary: ° Avoid Ryukyu Hotel unless you have a relaxed schedule. It’s a stunning and sophisticated hotel, though. ° American Village alone is worth the visit. Avoid going during the day due to the heat; visit around sunset instead. ° Sesoko Beach: The shallow waters are safe, and the emerald sea is stunning. However, unless you plan to snorkel, it might not be worth the long trip. ° Moon Beach Museum Resort: A budget-friendly gem! Highly recommended except for the sunbed issue. Note: There were a lot of Korean visitors—really a lot, haha. ° Umikaji Terrace: Close to the airport, perfect for spending 1–2 hours before your flight home. Thank you!

Gyokusendo Cave (Free parking lot) - About a 30-minute drive away, you can marvel at the wonders of nature that took hundreds of thousands of years to form. The underground stalactite cave boasts over a million stalactites. The tranquil and dimly lit cave is incredibly calming. Outside, there are various Okinawan cultural displays, such as traditional musical instruments and glass-blowing performances. Originally, I planned to visit the DMM Aquarium afterward, but I was too tired and decided to postpone it to the next morning. Day 2: Northern Naha DMM Aquarium (Free parking lot) - This is a new aquarium in Naha. Unlike traditional aquariums, DMM Aquarium offers semi-open pools simulating shallow seas, complete with wave sounds and lighting effects, making you feel like you're truly at the beach. Besides marine life, there are also land animal exhibits and limited feeding experiences. I tried feeding a sloth this time—it was so adorable, hanging on a tree and slowly grabbing the carrot slice. Pokemon Center (Free parking lot) - Located in Aeon Mall, the Pokemon Center needs no introduction! Although it's not as large as the one in Osaka, for a fan like me, it was enough to spend all my travel budget there! Nakagusuku Castle (Free parking lot) - The ruins of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom, located on a hill where you can overlook both the eastern and western areas. You must go diving in Okinawa. Once underwater, you'll see tropical fish that you usually only see in movies or games. If you're not comfortable with scuba diving, snorkeling will still offer amazing views! Cape Zanpa Lighthouse (Free parking lot) - One of the few lighthouses in Japan you can climb. Day 4: Nago City Nago Pineapple Park (Free parking lot) - A pineapple-themed botanical park, suitable for family activities. While the overall experience was good, I found DMM Aquarium's presentation more innovative and interesting. Churaumi Aquarium is often crowded, making it hard to take good photos. Some display tanks require queuing, which felt a bit congested and slightly detracted from the experience. Day 5: Okinawa's northernmost point, return car in Naha Cape Hedo - The northernmost point of Okinawa, about 50 km from Nago City. If the weather and your energy allow, it's a great spot to watch the sunrise. The eastern side is completely unobstructed, allowing you to see the sun rise from the sea horizon.
