A treasure of ancient urban planning and architecture

Walking tour in the Spanish Central Plateau ~ Teruel (region) Rubielos de Mora is one of the most attractive towns in Teruel. The town centre is a walled area with beautiful ancestral houses, picturesque corners and magnificent buildings. Rubielos de Mora is located on the right bank of the Rubielos River, in the Gúdar-Javalambre region. It is a jewel of town planning and architecture, with a series of traditional buildings decorated with exquisite grilles, and its famous workshops still exist today. In fact, it was awarded the “Europa Nostra” prize in 1983 in recognition of the restoration work done by local residents. There are many ecclesiastical monuments here, such as the former Cathedral of Santa Maria (17th century), which houses a fine plaque on the Life of the Virgin, the work of the so-called Master of Rubielos; the Augustinian Monastery (16th-18th centuries) and the Carmelite Monastery (17th century); and four hermitages dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries. There are also many civic buildings from the 16th to the 18th centuries, the most prominent of which are the Renaissance Town Hall, with its long row of Tuscan columns, and the Más de la Fuente (18th century), which is even more magnificent than the Carmelite building. #AprilDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Aragon
