It was built in the 12th century, completed in 1455, and partially rebuilt after a fire in 1862. The castle is built on a cliff, with an excellent view and a moat more than ten meters deep. It was once the residence of the Spanish royal family and a military fortress. The castle architecture combines Spanish Gothic style. Inside there is a weapons museum and gorgeous rooms, where traces of Moorish culture can be seen everywhere. The castle is long and narrow in shape with tall towers, and is known as one of the prototypes of "Snow White's Castle".
