[Ebisu Shigekuni] Saturday lunch, chewy crepes and bread
Chewy Crepes and Bread
Ebisu Shigekuni
Last Saturday, I visited a bakery cafe called 繁邦(Shigekuni) located in Ebisu, Tokyo.
I arrived at around 11:30 AM during the lunch cafe hours (9:00~15:00), but there was already a waiting line.
🚶♀️ Directions – 3-minute walk from Ebisu Station
繁邦(Shigekuni) is about a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Ebisu Station.
If you exit from the west exit of Ebisu Station toward Shake Shack and walk slightly uphill, you will see a Family Mart. If you go up the stairs next to it, you will see a pure white building.
The moment I saw the building, there was already a waiting line, so I thought, ‘Oh, that’s it~’. Haha
☀️ Waiting situation & waiting service
It was more popular than I thought, because there were about 5 groups in front of us. I was a little worried because it was a hot day, but the staff handed out cold water and even provided umbrellas for us, which was impressive!
Above all, the turnover rate was quite fast, so we were able to enter after waiting for about 30 minutes.
🪑 Entry & Atmosphere
The interior was wider than expected, and the dark-toned lighting seemed perfect for those who like a calm atmosphere.
We were guided to a table inside the room, and there were only about 3 tables in the room, so it felt private.
The air conditioner was also strong, so we were able to eat comfortably.
🥐 Ordered menu
• Sugar butter crepe
• 繁邦 set (Shigekuni set)
• Iced Americano
Americano came out first, but it was quite sour, so it might be a matter of preference.
About 20 minutes later, the crepe came out, followed by the Shigekuni set.
🧈 Sugar Butter Crepe
The visual of the butter melting slightly and flowing was great,
and the harmony of chewy + sweet + savory was the best as soon as I took a bite.
🍞 Shigekuni Set
The composition was as follows:
• Walnut bread, raisin bread, baguette bread (all served warm)
• Butter, blueberry jam, 2 slices of cheese, 2 olives
• Half an egg, cold pumpkin soup
The bread was chewy and had a freshly baked texture, so it was delicious,
and the pumpkin soup was served cold, but it was savory and had a strong paprika flavor on top.
I personally liked it because it had a very unique taste!
⏰ Time limit
The time limit was 1 hour, so I was a little rushed, but I finished it well while savoring the bread slowly and enjoying the combination with the soup.
