This is also the central square of the town and the most beautiful place in Eguisheim! The square is dominated by the castle, with a fountain in the middle with a statue of St. Leon on it. There are several restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops in the surrounding area. In summer, the whole place is decorated with colorful flowers, which is very picturesque.

The castle's history dates back to the 8th century, and the most worth seeing place here is the Chapel of St. Leon IX. The church is very beautiful, with impressive wooden doors, gorgeous tiled floors, and painted ceilings. It is definitely worth checking out.
🔹Saint Pierre and Paul Church
This is another landmark not to be missed in Eguisheim, it is the largest church in the city. Although it is small, it is worth a visit
🔹Souvenirs with "Stork"
As you stroll through the old town of Eguisheim, you will pass by many local cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Wherever you go, you will see all kinds of items with storks (a kind of bird). Storks are the symbol of the Alsace region, so they are very suitable as souvenirs and gifts to take home.
Staying here for one night is also a good choice!

Christmas in france
#magicalxmastrip Today we drove about an hour to go to Eguisheim in France where most of the town is decorated for Christmas. It’s not elaborate like Strausbourg but utterly charming, from the colorful timbered homes to the quaint decorations - I loved it so much. I love all the Nativity crèches tucked here and there. There are storks’ nests on the tops of buildings - you can see one on the church steeple. Dave saw one fly overhead but I missed it. We were going to try to go to other town’s markets but Eguisheim was so perfect to me that we didn’t need to brave the crowds to go to any others in this region of France for now. I highly recommend it!

#100WaysToTravel #FranceEguisheim #SlowTourInTheOldCity The most beautiful village in Alsace, the white wine producing region of France. Eguisheim Ancient City
The attic rooms of the old houses in the old city have a unique style with century-old wooden structures integrated into the interior layout. Stay for three or four nights, take a leisurely tour of the cultural old town of France, and follow the wine trail to connect several beautiful villages in the Alsace region, all the way north to Turckheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Hunawihr, Ribeauvillé
It is only a 15-minute drive from the popular Colmar, which makes it convenient to arrange a full-day tour of Colmar. It is also only 30 minutes away from the octagonal star-shaped ancient city of La place forte. Most tourists choose to stay in Colmar and arrange a half-day trip to Eguisheim. Therefore, in the early morning and after the evening, the streets of the entire ancient city of Eguisheim are almost deserted, as if the whole place is reserved for one's own enjoyment. Only the occasional low chirping of geese on the roofs of every household can provide a lot of beautiful photos.

Eguisheim, one of the most beautiful towns in France
Eguisheim is a very petite town, and like Colmar, it is known as a 'town of flowers'. Both are listed among the most beautiful towns in France. Unfortunately, due to the cold weather during our visit, the flowers had not yet bloomed, so it didn't feel very beautiful 😁 However, this town can be visited together with Colmar since it is only 7.5 kilometers away. A taxi from Colmar to the town costs 15 euros. The center of Eguisheim is essentially a concentric circle with a diameter of 300 meters. A stroll around the town, including time for photos, takes at most one hour! When we arrived, it was cloudy and rainy, and the photos we took were dull and not very pretty. But just before we were about to leave, the sun came out for a while, so I quickly went around for a reshoot. Thankfully, the town is not too big!

[Alsace, France] Eguisheim Village: Colorful round buildings, charming scenery like "Beauty and the Beast"
Eguisheim is an old and charming village in the Alsace region of France, nestled in the Vigee River valley. Known for its beautiful rotundas and colorful houses, this village is one of the most beautiful in the Alsace region.
Eguisheim is believed to be one of the inspirations for the story of Beauty and the Beast. The scenery and architectural features of this ancient village once inspired the creation of Disney animation, especially the beautiful village part of the story, which is considered to have something in common with the style of Eguisheim. While there is no definitive proof that it is the true origin of the story, the beautiful scenery and charming atmosphere of the village do resemble the scenes in Beauty and the Beast and is therefore considered one of the inspirations.
