Shangshui Treasure Hotel Revealed
Who would have thought this small town of Shangshui hides such a treasure hotel! Just after getting off the highway, we saw the eye-catching sign of Shangshui Morgan International Hotel. We originally planned just to rest overnight, but were amazed by its cost performance and service💥
🚗 Super convenient location
Right next to the Shangshui exit of the Ningluo Expressway, perfect for self-driving tours! The parking lot is huge, so no worries about parking even during peak tourist seasons. It’s only a 10-minute taxi ride to the center of Shangshui County and just half an hour to Zhoukou city.
🛏️ Room experience
We stayed in the Executive King Room for just over 300 RMB, with 28㎡ of space that even includes a bathtub! The bedding is tested comfortable, with a mattress of moderate firmness, allowing a full night’s sleep. Loved their little details: dual USB charging ports by the bed, well-separated wet and dry bathroom areas, and the toiletries even have gardenia fragrance~
🍽️ Foodie’s delight
The buffet breakfast exceeded expectations! Henan specialty spicy soup and pan-fried buns are unlimited, and there’s even freshly ground coffee and Western-style cold dishes. The waitresses were especially warm, reminding us kindly “Don’t waste food, dear” when we took a lot, which felt very friendly~
📸 Photo spots
• The spiral staircase in the lobby (looks super stylish when lit at night)
• The floor-to-ceiling windows in the 9th-floor executive lounge (great views of the county on sunny days)
• The bathtub in the room + trendy bubble bath props (remember to bring your own bath bombs)
💡 Nearby activities
1. Ye’s Manor: A 15-minute drive, a well-preserved Qing Dynasty Jin merchant mansion, perfect for taking photos in Hanfu
2. Dengcheng Pig Trotters: An old brand within 3 km of the hotel, vacuum-packed as souvenirs
3. Shahe Wetland Park: Perfect for a morning walk, a secret spot for locals’ morning exercises
⚠️ Practical tips
• Free upgrade trick: Check in after 3 PM on weekday afternoons in the off-season, upgrades often available if rooms are free
• Avoidance tip: Try to choose rooms facing away from the road, as large vehicles at the highway entrance can be noisy at night
• Hidden benefit: Book two consecutive nights on Trip.com and get welcome fruit, remember to ask for it
This is probably the most pleasantly surprising hotel I’ve stayed at in a fourth-tier city in Henan. At around 150+ RMB per person, the hardware and service rival first- and second-tier international chains. Next time I pass through Shangshui, I’ll definitely stay here again!
