You might think that Ya Kun is only for tourists, but after talking to local friends, I found out that they also frequently eat at Ya Kun, mostly for breakfast. Today, I joined some locals for breakfast at the Suntec City branch of Ya Kun. This brand's kaya toast needs no introduction. The toast is perfectly crispy, topped with a generous slab of butter and a heap of kaya jam, making it delicious. Singapore's famous soft-boiled eggs are served with soy sauce and pepper to taste. The contemporary traditional teochew mooncake is very yummy. The mao Shan Wang durian is mixed with the tau sau to give it an aromatic fragrance. The king of fruit mooncake is definitely very popular among singaporeans. The salted egg yolk yam mooncake is on the sweeter side. If you love yam paste, this is the mooncake that you are looking for. I have a sweet tooth, so I loved both the durian and salted egg yolk yam mooncake.

I have been a four leaves Bakery fans since I was young. My parents would always buy their chocolate fudge cake with a waffle base for our birthday. It was really delicious and made from Belgium dark chocolate. Another unique selling point of Four Leaves Bakery is their bite sized bread. Each cost less than a dollar which is a very good deal. And it comes with a Japanese soft boiled egg at the side. So it's a challenge if you do not know how to break an egg. The fries chicken, mixed with the egg, was a perfect combination. The meat was tender and flavourful. You can also add on the chilled powder as the side if you prefer a stronger taste. I ordered the Mushroom Sarawak Kolo mee, the presentation was good, food was however average. The kolo mee was not springy as it was a little overcooked hence a little soggy. Sauce was subpar. The goose cracker was nice though. The white radish-carrot soup was full of pepper, a nay for me. Probably will not visit again.
