🇮🇩TIMANG BEACH,Jogja(Yogyakarta)
Timang Beach (Pantai Timang) is located in the Tepus area of Gunung Kidul, within the Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. It’s about 35 km from Wonosari, and roughly a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from Yogyakarta city. The last few kilometers require a 4WD jeep or motorcycle to access due to rough terrain.
🌊Geography & Landscape
• The beach is divided into two parts:
• The eastern side features white sandy beaches.
• The western side is made up of steep rocky cliffs.
• Just off the coast stands Panjang Island (also known as Timang Island or Big Rock Island), where waves crash spectacularly. It’s also known as a lobster habitat, historically used by local fishermen.
🎢 Main Attractions: Gondola Ride & Rope Bridge
• The highlight of Timang is the man-powered gondola, built by local fishermen using wood, steel cables, ropes, and pulleys. It crosses the rough sea to the rocky island and is a thrilling ride for adventurous visitors.
• Alternatively, you can cross via a suspension rope bridge to the island — also quite daring and sometimes soaked by crashing waves.
• Ticket prices (approximate for international visitors):
• Gondola ride: IDR 200,000
• Rope bridge: IDR 100,000
(Locals typically pay less.)
🚙 Transportation & Tips
• It’s best to rent a car with a driver. The final stretch requires a 4WD vehicle — app services like Grab or GoCar do not work here.
• There’s usually a small entrance or donation fee, so bring IDR 150,000–200,000 in cash.
• There are no public swimming areas, and swimming is not recommended. It’s more for sightseeing and photography.
• Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes, and bring sunscreen, a camera, and cash for tickets and snacks.
⏱ Suggested Itinerary
• Often visited together with Jomblang Cave or Pindul Underground River, making it ideal for a one-day adventure trip.
• Sunset views are especially beautiful with the island silhouette, so arriving in the afternoon is recommended for photography.
