Greek Island Lunch in Changsha
Bathers
G/F, No. 32, Changsha Xiacun
Today’s Cheung Sha, Lantau Island has evolved. In addition to a few more campsites operating campervans, there is also a small shop that rents water sports supplies. Since there are more tourists, there are of course a few more restaurants that didn’t exist in those years. One of them is "Bathers".
Standing in the restaurant, you can see the clear blue sky with a few white clouds; the bright sunshine with the warm temperature and the sea breeze... It is no worse than Mykonos or Santorini in Greece. I never thought Hong Kong would have such a Mediterranean island style!
The menu is all in English, so I can continue to imagine myself in Mykonos. The photo on the menu cover is particularly attractive, with parasols and sandy beaches covering the entire beach. Was the photo taken at Cheung Sha in Lantau Island or a seaside beach resort in Europe?
The sun is shining, and I couldn’t help but order two summery cocktails: #red Sangria ($80) and #island Mojito ($80). The bright yellow passion fruit flesh is half floating and half sinking in the cocktail, giving it a unique appearance; the strong fruity flavor of the passion fruit, coupled with the sweet and sour lemon, the refreshing scent of mint, and the aroma of rum, create the refreshing summer flavor of Island Mojito.
#roasted Spring Chicken (half) ($185)
The side dishes include grilled onions, sweet bell peppers and zucchini, the latter two of which are bright yellow in color, and the appearance of the whole dish is very suitable for the summer atmosphere. But the roast chicken tasted just average, the chicken was a bit rough and the skin lacked the buttery chicken flavor.
#fritto Misto ($350) is an Italian word that means fried snack platter; the ingredients are first cut into small pieces, then coated in a thin batter and fried. The large dish includes squid, small fish fry (white rice fish) and shelled shrimp. It also adds soft-shell crabs which are rarely seen in other Western restaurants, making it more attractive. It is also paired with fried sweet potato fries or fried onion rings, making it perfect for sharing with friends. The batter is very thin and fried until crispy; although it is not a high-end and expensive ingredient, it tastes delicious.
#kids menu mini-steak ($140) In addition to a small piece of steak, it also comes with a small portion of French fries that children love, as well as a little shredded cauliflower and Mac & cheese croquette.
Although the steak was well done, it was meaty, juicy, and had no residue. Mac & cheese croquette is made by mixing cheese paste and cooked macaroni into a ball, then coating it in breadcrumbs and deep-frying it. When you bite it, it is crispy on the surface and soft on the inside. It turns out to be quite delicious! The macaroni would be more delicious if it could be slightly seasoned.
The quality of "Bathers" is similar to other family-style western restaurants in the city, but it is located in front of the beach, with beautiful scenery and a casual atmosphere. It is full of the strong European island resort style, making people forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Even if you live in the city, it’s worth making a special trip to Cheung Sha, Lantau Island on the weekend to enjoy a leisurely lunch.
