Hong Kong's famous Star Ferry, with roots dating back to 1880, costs only a few Hong Kong Dollars to ride, making it one of the best deals in all of Hong Kong. Victoria Harbour is a hive of activity, and ships of all shapes and sizes chug, zip, or wallow past as the expert captains of the Star Ferries somehow avoid collisions. As you travel the main route from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, or more specifically, Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) to Central, it's hard not to be struck by the dense towers of Hong Kong Island, backed by green mountains rising up before you. The breeze off the water is exceptionally refreshing, and the wide-open spaces are a perfect antidote to the tight confines of the city. Don't worry about scheduling a time to ride the ferry, they leave every few minutes all day long and later into the evening, so it's always easy to get a great seat in the front or along the rail. The return trip from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui is also just as impressive. If you time it right in the evening, you can catch one of Hong Kong's Symphony of Lights shows. Michael's House Beijing, Amazing staff that went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They offered great shopping recommendations, took care of one person in our party that was sick one day (even offered to get her food and medicine while she stayed in the room), set up the courtyard area for us to eat our delivery food in the evenings. Breakfast was varied and plentiful (both Chinese and Western options). Room was sound insulated (especially with the AC on) and had very high quality linens and mattress/pillows. An extremely comfortable bed by western standards but even especially by Asian standards. Impeccably clean in all ways, came back to a cleaned room, extra water bottles and fresh towels each evening. Location is perfect - off a main street but quiet because it’s located in a Hutong filled with local apartments. An easy 10 minute walk to the closest subway stop. Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center is just a 5-minute drive from Agricultural Exhibition Center and 10-minute drive from China International Exhibition Center. It also has a heated rooftop indoor pool, I can always trust Kempinski hotels will be impeccably clean with great service and this stay was no exception. Even in the middle of the night, suffering from a bout of food poisoning, they were quick to bring a hot water bottle and extra waters.
