If you're looking for a place for purification purposes, stop by Pura Mengening. This is a World Heritage Site in Bali. This site is sacred and therefore those who visit must abide by dress codes. Women should cover their shoulders and knees while walking around. If bathing, a sarong around your body should be enough. People from all walks of life come here to wash their bodies in the holly water. The normal rotation, is to go to the biggest waterfall first and then move on to the next until you've reached all the spouts where the water falls. In one of the baths, I was walking down the steps and thought, "I need to dunk my head into the water to get the full effect of the spiritual connection." I guess the thought came too soon because on the next step, I feel right in. The coolest part was, my body felt like it was being carried and I didn't even touch the ground. The pool was less than 3 feet. If you’ve been in China, you probably bought that bottle of water with a red cap available pretty much everywhere! But I bet you never wondered about its source right!? Well, Thousand Island Lake, 千岛湖 is the source of the Nongfu Spring Water! Apparently, the lake also supplies water to neighbouring cities like Hangzhou. It owes its birth to a failed reservoir project that resulted into a big lake with sprawling islands. Consequently, tourism was developed and led to the growing presence of hotels and water activities around the lake. Boats cruising the lake offer visits to two or three islands. We chose to take the speed boats as they are available at any time and also take you to three islands. The tour costs 295¥ per person. There’s a cheaper option, but it’s only available on scheduled hours. To have a view of the islands, the view point at the top is accessible by cable car or by walk. As it was hot and humid, we chose the comfort of sitting in a cable car at an extra cost of 50¥ per person. We were told that walking all the way up takes about 30 mins. There’s also a small shop for snacks and refreshments. Nothing to boast about for the second island which felt rather plain. We walked around for a waterfall and a fish pond. On the Monkey island, you can buy fruits in a bowl to feed the monkeys. How to go - 🚗 A local friend drove us there. It was about a two hour drive away from Hangzhou. #mountainview After encountering several reposts of drone shots of the Ruyi bridge on IG, I found out that Unitravel, a travel agency based in Hangzhou, was offering trips to to Shenxianju scenic spot. A bunch of friends and I signed up and we were not disappointed at all! We chose to take the cable car and only walked a bit to find escalators taking us further up. That was something none of us have seen before, definitely not on a mountain! We spotted a nice area with chairs and tables, surrounded by a few shops, where we sat and had our own packed lunches. We crossed two bridges before finally spotting the Ruyi bridge. I went to several glass bridges before and that one was indeed, the most impressive. While following the pathway, you’ll come across shops selling beverages and snacks. Fresh air & mountain views, a great combo for a getaway from the city! We walked in the sun for hours and were too exhausted to descend on foot. We chose to take the cable car again. Grand Canyon is huge, it’s one of the natural Wonder of world. It’s looks beautiful with its bright colors and irregular shapes. Driving in GrandCanyon is the best way to explore it, as it has multiple view points which are far away from each other. I visited the SilverKris Lounge at Changi Terminal 3 during my layover and some services has changed. The meal service is no longer the buffet setup but has changed into ala carte made-to-order style. Since it was a long layover of more than 24 hours, I got to try multiple dishes. All of them are very delicious. I’ve got to say, if the team in charge of making the food at the lounge decides to open a restaurant one day, it would be as good as some of the best restaurants that I’ve ever tried in my entire life. The pasta is so good I keep on ordering more of it. The fried rice is as good as a fried rice can get. This is a very special experience for me when I travel in Paris, I decided to take a tour at the Picasso Museum, and everything is smooth, very classical museum experience until.... After staying for a hour there, I saw a person quietly walking around observing the artwork, I am a big fan of Criminal Minds for years and he looked so familiar. However I am still not sure if he is Matthew Gubler, so I walked close and asked, are you an actor in criminal minds? After getting a positive feedback, I said are you Reid? And he said yes, so amazing, I just can not believe that is true. An actor I loved for years appeared in front of me suddently, so excited! He couldn't have been more gentle, we chatted for a few minutes, he hugged me and even drew a picture for my son when he knew I named my son Matthew just because of him - A dinosaur! Since I can’t travel, I’ll share the story of my previous trip to Malacca. When you go to Malaysia, apart from KL and PENANG, Malacca is actually a good place worth visiting. Some of them are not only local culture, some of them also incorporate Western elements - you can see the Portuguese red church, the murals that are also common in Penang, Western-style buildings, but there is also no shortage of authentic temples. Of course, there are tourists from afar, as well as locals or people from KL. A friend took us to a coffee shop with a strong Western flavor, but the owner was actually a native Malaysian. He told me that he had come to settle in Hong Kong in the 1990s, but could not stand the high prices in Hong Kong and the leisurely and fascinating life in Malacca, so he came back and started his own coffee shop. Visiting Doi Inthanon National Park was an unforgettable experience. It’s the highest point in Thailand, and the views were simply amazing. The drive up the mountain was peaceful, with cool air and lush greenery all around. The mist in the early morning made everything feel magical. The highlight for me was standing at the summit. The air was fresh, and the view stretched endlessly. I felt so calm and connected to nature. The King and Queen Pagodas were stunning, surrounded by beautiful gardens that were perfect for photos.
