It gets super hot, especially midday. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. You’ll be walking around quite a bit, and there isn’t much shade. I was melting but still amazed! 😅 ✨ Dress code alert! Before you go, make sure you dress respectfully — no sleeveless tops, shorts, or tight clothing. Covered shoulders and long pants or skirts are a must (they’re very strict!). If you’re not dressed properly, you’ll have to buy or rent clothes at the gate. Inside the palace, Wat Phra Kaew is the most sacred part. That’s where the famous Emerald Buddha sits — small but so powerful 🛐💚 The statue is changed seasonally by the King himself, and the atmosphere inside is really serene. #thailandtrip As part of our Pattaya day trip, we visited Wat Phra Yai, and it was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. The giant golden Buddha sitting high on the hill felt so calm and powerful in person 🧘♀️💛 The golden naga staircase leading up made the whole moment feel even more special. From the top, there’s also a nice view over Pattaya — and it’s really close to a viewpoint, so we got to enjoy both with no rush 🌿📸 Later in the day, we also went to see the Laser Buddha (Khao Chi Chan) — and that was another wow moment! The Buddha is carved into the side of a mountain with laser precision and filled in with gold — seriously impressive and unlike anything I’ve seen before ✨⛰️ Both places gave off peaceful energy in different ways — one high above the city, the other carved into nature. Crossing the bridge toward the main building was an experience in itself. Beneath the walkway, hundreds of sculpted hands reached out in eerie stillness, symbolizing human desire and suffering. The bridge, representing the path to enlightenment, was lined with symbolism that made us pause and reflect before even entering the temple. Inside the main hall, we were surprised to find modern pop culture references integrated into the wall murals—characters like Superman and Neo from The Matrix, alongside symbolic imagery of disasters and chaos. The interior is clean, has a water heater, and a window view that opens to see the fog and a beautiful reservoir view. 🌄 The highlight is the “view balcony” in front of the room, which overlooks the village in the middle of the valley. Wake up in the morning, sip hot tea, and watch the fog slowly float by, which is so awesome! 🛵 The accommodation is not far from the boat trip point and restaurants in the village. Visiting Wat Mahathat was one of those moments where history felt incredibly alive around me. I’ve always been drawn to places that carry stories in their stones, and this ancient ruin in Ayutthaya did exactly that. The sprawling grounds, worn-down prangs, and headless Buddha statues told of glory, war, and time. What struck me most was the iconic Buddha head nestled within the roots of a Bodhi tree. It was much smaller than I expected, but undeniably powerful. There was a quiet sacredness to it—you could feel it the moment you stepped close. I instinctively bowed slightly as I took a photo, not just because it’s respectful, but because it felt right. Walking around the ruins, I could only imagine what the place must’ve looked like at its peak.
