Hiking starts from the path near the Pier and right side of the Arch(If coming from the Pier). Ask locals if not able to find. Hiking is short (Around 45-60 Min) and little scary as steps are steep, narrow and no protection. Carry water and don't take heavy bags. View from top is breath taking. As part of my Guilin expedition, the first day started with 🥾 hiking through Silver caves. Spread across twelve peaks 🏞️ in the top, silver cave is quite huge and may take around 2 hours to complete the whole with leisure sighting. You can also get a audio book rented there and hear it on the way for more insights about the cave and how they're formed. It is an easy trail that can be done by anyone, while you got to be properly dressed for all the sweating 😅 inside. For inquisitive minds🧐, it will boil down to the chemical level that will only lead you to find these are calcium carbonate sediments formed by flow of lava🌋 at ages before. Cuiping Hills (also known as Wuzhi hills) is a highly underrated location. Its in Putao town which is about 25km from Yangshuo (It took us 50 mins by electric bike on a rainy day). Xiangong and Laozhai mountains are more popular and full of crowds, and are often annoying because of the huge number of people. However, Cuiping hills have equally amazing views and very few people on this hike. You’ll feel totally amidst nature and its glory, and most importantly away from hundreds of onlookers pushing each other to take pics. There are nicely cut rock steps which makes the hike easy and the entire hike up the mountains take 15 mins only. Would highly recommend this if you are in Yangshuo. #guilintravel #yangshuo #mountainview

With the digitization and online payment taking over all of China, there's hardly a need to use the bank notes. But have you ever looked at the back of 20 yuan bank note and wondered where is this paradise on Earth ?! Yes, here it is; taken at the Yangtze river with all those volcano-like mountains surrounding them. Yes the first time when I visited Guilin these little mounts popped up all over here look like a dormant volcano 🌋 But thankfully they aren't. On day 1 we arrived at Guilin and after an amazing breakfast went over to see this natural beauty in the bamboo rafting. With less water and force, it was really soothing to have a look around these mountains. And then we went on for a little cycling around the farms there. Later went for a relaxed dinner in the very famous West street, where the variety of food and restaurants are immense. On day 2, we took the cruise ship that'll take you around 5 hours amidst these little mounts and you can get to see the 20 rupees backside picture in here. Don't forget to take one with you haha. In the evening, we went to one of the best opera in China Liu San Jie show, where nearly 500 artists perform in the Yangtze river. The memories are still fresh, that's one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Day 3, went to the nearby village where they're locals and get to know about their tradition, food and even the song & dance. This maybe bit secluded, but it's easily findable as well. Don't miss to eat the famous Beer fish in Guilin haha, yes it's cooked in beer and it has quite a flavor. Follow the yellow bloom road! This was at least the fifth time I've been to Yangshuo and every time I see something new. Last year I went during the rainy season, in June, and there was a flood; we had a relaxing day playing cards in the hotel and eating instant noodles. This year we were there at the end of February and it was perfect because the 油菜花 rapeseed flowers were blooming everywhere. Blue skies, green hills, yellow fields. We cycled along the Yulong River to Fuli and it was a perfect day: mild weather, spring blossoms and joyful signs of life everywhere. I've been to Yangshuo several times before but I'd never climbed the TV tower hill until now. It was really worth it! I didn't know exactly where the trail started but I had a good idea of where it should be (you can see the trail snaking up the mountain from the town.) I headed in that direction and found myself in a maze of alleys behind the market. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find my way through these narrow streets and then saw 上山--> painted on a wall. Perfect! I followed a few more of these ad hoc signs and soon found myself at the bottom of stone steps leading out of the village and up the slope. It's a typical Chinese trail: steep and all stairs. It's not a long climb though. At the top there's a compound with the TV towers in it; the old man who lives there will take 5 kuai (WeChat accepted) to come inside and admire the view. I think he also sells drinks. I asked him if he climbs up there every day and he laughed and said no he stays in the house there. What a view to wake up to every morning! You can see how the town of Yangshuo stretches out like the arms of an octopus in between the karst hills, radiating away from the area around 西街 West Street. Definitely recommended if you've got an hour or two to spend and want the best overhead view of Yangshuo. We took the 4 star cruise line down to Yangshuo and what a beautiful ride it was. Seeing the lush tropical mountains and waterfalls was very beautiful. The boats have top decks so you can enjoy the scenery as the boat travels down the lijiang river. Many boats do this daily provided the weather is good so it's quite the operation. Getting There - Go to the Zhujiang Pier about 40 minutes drive from Guilin City Center. Attractions - River Cruise/ Bamboo Raft (best views are between Yangdi village and Xingping Village) Start your day early. Many of the cruise trips depart between 8:30 to 9:30 am. The registration process is a bit lengthy (have your passport, covid tests, vaccination record and green codes ready). The cost of the cruise varies depending on the cruise ship you select. Each cruise line provides meals but you can bring your own snacks. The trip is about 4-5 hours depending on the weather. The views are spectacular. You’ll have a guide who will explain different sites and will allow you to go to the upper deck for great shots of the scenery. In Yangshuo People's Park 人民公园 there's a small, sharp karst hill crowned with a pagoda or gazebo. I've seen it before but didn't know the way up. This time I found it. The base of the trail is kind of tucked away but the hill is small so if you walk around it isn't hard to find. On the way up there are a few grottos, stone arches and so on. After a great thigh burn up the stone steps you reach the top and are awarded with a brilliant view of Yangshuo town centre (the West Street 西街 area) and the surrounding higher karst hills. It would probably be a good sunrise or sunset point but we were there a little after sunset so missed it. There's a table in the gazebo so you could bring a picnic (as the rubbish suggests other people have. Sigh.)
