Taipei BBQ|"Shan Shang Zou Zou" Omakase BBQ Dining Experience
📍 A Surprise Last-Minute Reservation
A week before heading to Taipei, I suddenly craved BBQ and discovered the highly popular "Shan Shang Zou Zou," which specializes in Omakase-style BBQ tasting menus. Online reviews mentioned how difficult it is to get a reservation! Although most slots were fully booked, I was surprised to find an available time at 11:30 AM. I immediately booked it—it's a bit early, but eating earlier helps with digestion and avoids the discomfort of eating late.
🔥 A BBQ Feast Full of Ceremony
The set menu is priced at NT$1,580 per person +10%, offering great value. From appetizers to desserts, every dish is meticulously arranged, and you don't have to grill anything yourself—having a professional grill for you is such a treat! The beef's rich, fatty aroma is incredibly satisfying, with each piece perfectly grilled to melt in your mouth. It was an utterly fulfilling experience.
The meal includes nearly twelve exquisite dishes, ranging from refreshing appetizers, Wagyu beef, lobster, sea urchin, breaded beef cutlet, sukiyaki, to a comforting rice porridge and pudding dessert at the end. Even without ordering extras, you'll feel completely full! Each dish is visually stunning, Instagram-worthy, and delicious.
Taking photos earns you a complimentary ice cream, adding to the ceremonial vibe✨. There's also a small cup of shiso leaf drink, which is sweet and sour, perfect for cleansing the palate.
🍣 Luxurious Add-On: Sea Urchin Hand Roll (NT$880)
Many online reviews recommended the "Sea Urchin Hand Roll." Despite its steep price, I decided to give it a try. The taste was quite average, and the value for money wasn't great—I would suggest skipping this.
⏳ Fast-Paced Dining Experience
The restaurant indeed delivers a strong sense of ceremony, but the overall pace is quite rushed. It feels like you're moving on to the next dish before fully savoring the current one, making it ideal for those who prefer efficient dining.
💭 Overall Review
Although the sea urchin hand roll was a bit disappointing, the quality of the BBQ itself was excellent. Beef lovers will definitely enjoy it! If you're looking for a BBQ experience with a strong sense of ceremony, this place is truly worth a visit❣️
