Donghu Park, one of the four artificial lakes in Guangzhou, is a nice place for visit or a walk in the afternoon. The lake is really big and divides the park into different parts: small pavilion with beautiful flowers(where you can also enjoy a nice view of Canton Tower and its reflection), exercise area, a small island(there is a tea& coffee place, but now under re-construction), kayak, zigzag bridge etc. It's always my first choice to have a walk in the afternoon and sit on the bench for a while gazing at the small island or read a book, and then head to Guigang market for pig blood soup, and look for some local street food. A 5-star experience indeed. Mactan isn't known for its beautiful beaches but this resort managed to make it look so beautiful. Full of sceneries such as their famous infinity pool and lots of spots to chill to avoid congestion. At night you can go to their beachfront bar with lots of drinks to choose from. That probably was my favorite spot. Service was also great, people were kind and friendly. Food waa not great tho, there was nothing special about it, not even the serving size. Perhaps they can improve on that. For a city of 20-something million people, there are a lot of hiking areas to give you that nice scenic overview of the skyline. For this one, we drove out to Yantian where a hiking path snaked it’s way up the mountains overlooking the city. With sunset on the way we waited with a fair few it must be said locals- all of whom had their tripods out to be able to grab the city skyline. For people bored of the same “inner city” Shenzhen, Yantian’s trails and city lookout spots provide a nice alternative that can be done as a day trip.
