Layover in Hong Kong? Visit this place! 🇭🇰
Tung Chung is a modern district on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and a great place to visit if you have a short layover. It’s known for the scenic Ngong Ping 360 cable car and the Big Buddha statue. Perfect for shopping, walks, and cultural sights—just 10 minutes from the airport.
Plan at least two hours for your visit, as the cable car ride to the Buddha takes about 20–25 minutes one way.

🇨🇳 Guangzhou 12-hour layover
A few days ago, I had the chance to have a layover in Guangzhou as I was flying two transit flights with China Southern Airlines. I landed in Guangzhou from Moscow at around 11am and had to take a flight to Singapore at 11pm. That gave me a solid half day to explore Guangzhou, which I actually think is a very good layover city!
Layover city explorations tend to be on the chill side as you would likely be tired in between flights. Initially I thought of heading to the city’s main attractions like Shamian Island, the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall or the Museum of the Nanyue King, but gave all that a miss because of fatigue as well as hot weather in summertime. So instead I simply had some good food, had a massage from a machine chair in a mall, went to see the iconic Canton Tower and walk along the Pearl River.
Guangzhou is a very convenient city to a layover for several reasons. First, Baiyun Airport is very spacious and modern with excellent lounges if you choose to use them. Second, there is a direct metro (Line 3) from the airport to the city centre. Third, there are a wide variety of things to do, whether you want to cram attractions or go to malls to relax especially when you tired and the weather is hot. Fourth, if you have Wechat/Alipay, payments through mobile are extremely convenient.
Honestly while I lived in China for 6 months before in Shanghai, I never actually considered travel to Guangzhou. But this layover is a pleasant accidental discovery!#china #guangzhou #layover
Explore the world’s most futuristic Airport: Daxing
I had a short layover at Beijing Daxing Airport, and I have to say—it’s now my favorite airport!
First of all, it’s absolutely stunning! You can immediately feel Zaha Hadid’s touch in the design.
Second, it’s incredibly efficient. The entire transit process, including security, took just 12 minutes—thanks to the fact that there’s only one terminal (even though it’s massive!).
And third, my favorite part, there’s an open-air Chinese garden! After a 7-hour flight, it was quite literally a breath of fresh air. Since it was early morning, the place was almost empty.
My two-hour layover flew by: I had time to wander through the garden and watch the sunrise 🌅

An Evening Layover in Seoul 🇰🇷
Even with a short 13 hour layover, Seoul was absolutely amazing. It’s my second time here and it surprised me even more than last time. It’s such a fun multicultural city filled with surprises around every corner. From little winding roads to neon buildings and vibrant streets, so really is a city for the 21st-century. #seoul #seoultrip #korea #southkorea #southkorea #southkorea #layover
Singapore 12-hour Layover Itinarary🇸🇬💗✨
Singapore is a futuristic country which combines the old with the new as well as nature with technology very well and nicely. It is also a multicultural country with the stories of different historical and cultural backgrounds from the Chinese, Malaysians, Hindus, South and Soth East Asian. The country is well-designed and organized, so I feel very comfortable traveling here, and I also feel so lucky that I get to have 12 hours of layover here.
Here are some places I visited that gave me an unforgettable experience during my 12-hour layover:
📍Merlion Park: one of the most famous famous sites in Singapore. The view there is also very beautiful. In the morning there are people jogging, showing the lively spirit of the people there 🏃🏻♀️🏃
📍Gardens by the Bay: The super trees are magnificent. It is a perfect combination of city and nature🌿
📍Lao Pa Sat: You can have lunch here. There are all kinds of Asian cuisine.
📍Sri Mariamman Temple: a Hindu temple worth visit with beautiful architecture, sculpture, and painting
📍China Town: The place portrays the history of Chinese society and culture.
📍Jewel Changi Airport Canopy Park: It is genuinely the most beautiful airport I’ve been to. It nicely depicts how a futuristic world looks like.
🚉Transportation: Skytrain 1 day tourist pass
You can easily take the skytrain and start your traveling from the airport.
💰Average Price per Person: 13USD
Food
🍊The fresh orange juice from the vending machine contains 4 freshly juiced oranges, and you can see the entire process, which is very cool. The drink is good for cooling in summer, vitamin C, and nutrients✨
🥥A lot of local food here has kaya made with coconut. I really like the taste of it. Everyone should try it if you visit Singapore. Kaya toast is a famous example😋
I hope you have a wonderful time here in this beautiful country. Singapore really gives me a good impression. After this trip, I think if I have the chance, I’ll definitely come back again to explore more of the beauty of Singapore🇸🇬💗✨

Layover in Belgrade? Escape the airport terminal! 🇷🇸
If you have a long layover in Belgrade, it’s the perfect opportunity to escape the dull airport terminal and explore the city. With just 6 hours, I managed to see a large part of Belgrade’s historic core.
✨Here are my recommendations:
1. Knez Mihailova Street
2. Saint Sava Temple
3. Belgrade Fortress
4. Hotel Moskva (Even Brad Pitt stayed here once!)
5. Skadarlija District
6. Restaurant “Tchaikovsky”
💼 Advice:
The fastest and most budget-friendly way to get to/from the airport is by A1 mini bus. It goes directly to Slavija Square.

very good
We flew Singapore airlines via munich and accessed plaza premium for a layover. Their lounge is well-staffed and the plates and cups are cleared away quickly and attentively. When we first came into the lounge it was quite busy and all the seats were taken, so they let us know that we can come in but we would need to wait a bit to find a seat.
I know this is also the lounge for those who hold the Priority Pass but I think the lounge should be managing the flow of people coming in a little better. Martina and her staff were very helpful as they did notice us waiting and helped us to get a table to sit down at as another guest was leaving. I think they did notice the issue and they started to put reserved signs on tables as other guests started to leave.

Singapore airlines
Recently, I had the chance to travel and lay over at Kong Kong. Singapore airlines is one of my favourite airlines with a world class service. I received access to the silver Kris lounge. In the Business Class section, it is a sizeable place with two different sections for food. The bar opens at 5:30pm.
They have plenty of showers but the wait time is quite long. It was 40 mins compared to 10mins at the gold lounge when I went. The food is really good and there's plenty of good drink options. Many types of seatings, with the favourites being half-enclosed cubicles which are limited in numbers.

Quickie in Macau
Not the quickie you think, but I had like 6 odd hours to spare in the late evening at the macau airport. My options were between catching a nap at the noisy airport or take a ride into town and walk around, Casino hopping and eat something. Luckily the bus system in macau runs all night. And there was the convenience of using hong kong dollars to pay for everything.
They take hong kong dollars at the same price as macau pataka. I got down at the nearest stop to senado square. All the shops were shut. But I managed to walk around an hour, see what could be seen. The evenings are quite pretty around here with the lights. But too many strange looking people and workers hanging outside or getting drunk. I did manage to eat at a local eatery as well. The egg tart couldn't be done because the shop was shut. But otherwise worth the trip and stroll.

🇳🇱 Top (free!) things to do for Amsterdam layover
#100waysoftravel
I’ve had an 8 hours (10pm - 6am) layover in Amsterdam recently, and here are some of my top tips for you the make the most out of your overnight transit:
⛴️ Recommendation 1: take a stroll along the river towards city centre - it’s a vey safe and peaceful walk, and you’ll get to catch some amazing night cityscape boats and lights!
🚨 Recommendation 2: walk around the centre district and explore the culture - this is the best area to stroll around at night and it’s most lively from 8 pm - 2 am.
⛪️ Reccomendation 3: Check out the iconic local landmarks at night including the cathedral and city hall - not only are these buildings beautiful with the specially designed lighting, you also get to enjoy taking as many pictures as you want without the day time crowds!

Best 1 Day Istanbul itinerary
#citydaytours
While en route to North America, I had a 22 hour layover in Istanbul. I considered several options in terms of tours and picked an itinerary perfect for the layover. Involving places that are most popular and in close distance of each other. This can allow you to have a great first experience of Istanbul without going out of the way.
Keep in mind that this is the largest city if you compare turkey with european cities. And a very touristy one. So there is bound to be some things that I missed out on. But that was done keeping in mind that i didn't want to exhaust myself.
I started off with a stunning Turkish breakfast in the sultanahmet district. I take my coffee strong, so i asked for strong Turkish tea. And that was terribly strong. No more Turkish tea for me. But you can always tell them to add more water or less water according to your preference. Here are the 5 places i visited before going back to my hotel.
1) Sultanahemet Square
Plenty of historical stops scattered around and shops, cafe's, food carts etc. This is where I had my breakfast.
2) Hagia Sophia
Walk to the grand mosque. Somewhat touristy and crowded as an experience. But you want to see the most popular attractions in Istanbul.
3) Blue mosque
In the same vicinity, blue mosque is yet another popular stop. I prefer this one over hagia sophia.
4) Basilica cistern
There are several underground cisterns in Istanbul. This is a 6th century old and largest of them.
5) Grand Bazaar
Lastly, to truly exhaust you and make you hate cigarettes and the smell of it. Also give you a reason to conside putting your clothes in laundry the same day. (Too much smoke) but the largest and oldest market is colorful and test of your patience. How lovely for an activity to help you crash?
This ensured I was back to the hotel by early evening and i enjoyed the hotel spa, called it a night early to prepare for the flight next morning.

Regala Skycity Hotel - Hong Kong
We had a fantastic layover at Regala Skycity Hotel. It is located right inside Hong Kong International Airport. It only took us five minutes by taxi.
The hotel also offers free shuttle bus service every 30 minutes from early morning until midnight.
The room was very comfortable and clean, we had a really good night’s sleep.
I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a hotel near the airport for a pleasant layover.

A Whirlwind Visit: Gardens by the Bay
#singaporetrip
🗓️ October , 2023
During my short layover in Singapore, I went on a captivating stroll through Gardens by the Bay, a true masterpiece of nature and technology. I took a taxi from the airport to marina sands square.
Starting from Marina Sands Square just behind it, the garden greeted me with lush greenery and the iconic Supertree Grove in the daytime, a sight that left me in awe.
As I explored, I couldn't help but imagine the enchanting transformation this place undergoes at night when the supertrees come alive with lights.
Gardens by the Bay is a testament to Singapore's commitment to harmoniously blending the urban with the natural, and it left me inspired and yearning for more adventures in this city.

Artscience museum in Singapore 🇸🇬
🗓️ October, 2023
While wandering the enchanting surroundings of Marina Sands Bay in Singapore, I chanced upon the captivating ArtScience Museum.
Positioned in close proximity to both Gardens by the Bay and the iconic Sands Hotel, this museum's distinctive and unconventional architectural design caught my eye.
Its unique shape, resembling an outstretched hand or perhaps a lotus flower, adds an artistic flair to the city's skyline.
Regrettably, due to time constraints, I couldn't venture inside to explore its exhibitions, as each required separate admission.

Having Fun on the Streets of London
I had so much fun with the few hours I had in London and I’ll definitely be coming back. If these pictures are just of a few streets, I can only imagine the beauty of the rest of London.
There are many tour buses you can hop on once you have time to get a better glimpse of many places without having to hop on or off public transportation.

Narita Layover
Had six hours layover in Narita. A Mario themed welcoming greeted me as I entered the airport. I wondered around the airport since I had some time on my hands.
I went to the shopping and dining area in terminal 1, which you can access before checking in. They have a few places to choose from on the 4th and 5th floor. On the 4th floor you also have gift shops, shoe and clothing, pharmacy and traveling needs. On the 5th floor you will the sky observatory, a food court and a Lawson. The sky observatory allows you to go outside and look at the planes and watch them take off. The also have a variety of vending machines: toys, ice cream, drinks, and coffee. There is a barbershop on the 5th floor too.
Once you check through, you have your usual duty free stores and restaurants to choose from. I saw two travel lounges and they have shower rooms if you want to freshen up for a cost.

Overnight Layover at SFO
We had a 12-hour overnight layover in San Francisco, and I have to say, for American airports, spending the night at SFO was not too bad. There were a few exhibits around to look at, and there were nap chairs to take a rest in. Although, the most popular places to sleep were the dining booths in the food courts. Overall, it wasn’t too bad, and staying in the international terminal saved us quite a bit of money versus staying at an airport hotel.

T3 Changi - Canton Paradise Noodle & Congee
House
If you are ever in need of a bowl of warm congee while you’re staying at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport at Terminal 3, this is the place to go. My partner was feeling unwell and this cafe was recommended by the hotel check-in staff.
The cafe is very near the hotel’s T3 entrance. Just
take the lift down to Basement 2 and you’ll find this cafe.
We ordered one ‘century egg and shredded pork congee’ as well as one ‘spicy minced meat noodle’ to go so we can unwind in the hotel. We were very surprised by the carefully packaged food that kept the condiments dry for the congee and there was soup provided for the noodles as well.
Because of its proximity to the hotel, the food was piping hot when we had it. Taste wise, the congee was smooth and tasty. The texture of the noodles was chewy and good. Overall, the meal we had was satisfying. It warmed us up for our long layover at Changi during the new year.
If you’re looking for simple, warm dishes while at Changi, this casual and fuss-free dining with very attentive service staff is the place to go.
LOCATION: 65 Airport Blvd., #B2-49 Terminal 3, Singapore

Crowne Plaza Changi - Super Convenient & Comfortable
Long haul flights and transits can be tiring, especially if you're waking up very early in the morning. For a long layover at Changi, I would highly recommend putting up at the Crowne Plaza. This hotel is super convenient and comfortable.
The hotel is located at Terminal 3. You'll have to clear the immigration before you're able to enter the hotel. Although the hotel is pretty expensive, especially during peak seasons, it is worth it for a good night's rest.
Booked this hotel via trip.com. Check in and out was super convenient. Staff are all very efficient and dedicated to guests. Overall, very convenient, cosy, and great amenities-pool, fitness center and full service 24/7 restaurant.
Access wise, it is very easy to retail shops, cafes and restaurants. There are cafes directly below at basement 2. There's also easy access to public transport here via bus or trains You can also easily access the Jewel (just next door) and other terminals via the sky track.

layover in Helsinki for 3hrs
I arrived at the Helsinki airport in the morning for a layover. I decided to sightsee the city of Helsinki during the layover for just 7hours, including the passport security which took almost 1 hour. I headed to the Templeliaukio church via Uber. I should have taken the train since it was way cheaper than Uber and similar time. The church was so impressive. As shown the picture, there was a 9 foot size Steinway grand piano. I wish I could play that piano and heard the sound which resonate the hall. Just looking closer at the piano and the pipe organ was content. I uploaded the video of visiting the Temppiaukio church at my YouTube channel called StoneMing. #helsinki #layover
Quick early morning stop through Narita
Tokyo Narita Airport is one of Japan's busiest international airports, and as such one may find him/herself with a couple hours to spend between flights. One way to spend that time can be to go to Narita city which is a short and cheap (around ¥250) 10 mins train ride from the airport and a quaint little city that is a quite nice to wander around.
I arrived in the early morning, so everything was still closed and there were not many people. This made my exploration all the more intimate and relaxed. There isn't much to do in this small city, but there are a few temples in the area, which are calm and also integrated with forested areas.
The main street leading to these temples is in Edo style, which makes you really feel like you're in a small village of sorts. There are also many eel restaurants that line this street, but unfortunately it was too early when I went so nothing was opened yet.
If you have some time between your flights (Covid restrictions aside) or before your flight, I do recommend you go to Narita city for a quick feel of Japan. You'll be rewarded by lush greenery, small town streets and calm temples. Everything is quite convenient and compact so walking from the station should be quite doable.
If you have a bit more time, there is an even an Aeon nearby, where you can stock up on Japanese goodies before you head home!

Incredible Layover at the Batu Caves – Kuala Lumpur
What do you do with a long layover in Kuala Lumpur? If you're lucky like I was—you head straight to the Batu Caves. Just 30 minutes from the airport, this iconic site is a must-see and the perfect way to turn a layover into an adventure.
The real showstopper? The 272 rainbow-colored stairs leading up to the limestone cave temples. It's a bit of a climb (especially in the Malaysian heat), but totally worth it. Each step feels like you’re ascending into something magical—surrounded by wild monkeys, towering cliffs, and that massive golden statue of Lord Murugan.
Whether you're into cultural landmarks, photography, or just stretching your legs between flights, Batu Caves delivers. And best of all? It’s free to enter.
If you're ever passing through KLIA, carve out a few hours—you won't regret it.

That China Spring Getaway YOU need!
From the hustle and bustle of busy Qianmen in Beijing to the tranquil Wanfu Temple in Fujian province. A spring holiday visit to China is one not to be missed.
This trip flying with Hainan Airline from UK to FOC, I chose to have a spontaneous 10hour layover in Beijing. From research online, many people talked about booking tickets for Forbidden City or a guided tour around the Great Wall. However, I decided to go for a wonder around Qianmen. What people don't comment on is how tired you will be after a 10hr flight, for me less is more. If I booked the Great Wall tour, yes I would enjoy it but I would have been far too tired. So a wonder through the old HuTongs in Beijing was the perfect way to explore, taking my own time and wonder into Tea Houses. There was something special about enjoying a cup of Ice Latte in an old traditional Beijing building overlooking the busy tourists running up and down Qianmen.
With China's new tourist visa policy, 100% recommend spring break in China. Weather 20-25 degrees, light and breezy.
