This was a funny story! I looked online for abandoned buildings in Hainan, and found this gem! Upon arrival the first time I was denied entry as they are planning to restore the building as it was classified as a historical site. Returning one year later, the local vilagers told me the project has been stopped until further notice and I can enter the building for photos. What I saw is the most beautiful arches, overgrown stairs and the perfect contrast for the lens! I should have taken people with for portraits but I am glad to share the location with you to take stunning photos! Hilton Wenchang is a fantastic hotel to escape from the hustle city. The amenities and facilities are good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Some of them can speak English. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathtub and a big balcony with stunning views. Regarding the exterior, there were multiple pools but some of them were under maintenance. The beach area was incredible, clear water and white sand. Hilton Wenchang is definitely a nice place to stay and relax. #summerbreak Driving around Hainan took us to the coconut forest in Wenchang. I just love the view of coconut trees so this was the perfect spot to start the vacation. Summer is super warm in Hainan however it was manageable even for a Norwegian. We stayed at Hilton and drove to different places during the day. I could totally recommend Wenchang chicken, it is a local delicacy that we tried on the first night. We also tried some local dimsum at a small restaurant by the sea. We also had a morning walk to shitou park, from the parking you have to walk abit to come to the cool stones. we came early and got the place almost to ourselves. #travel #hainan #wenchang

Wennan Old Street is located in Wenchang, Hainan. It is an ancient, historical and cultural street with countless shops along the narrow street. Wenchang Pavilion was built during Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1619), with brick and wood overhanging roof. It is a binary quadrangle lying south and facing north. The whole building group is made up of rooms for ritual purification, cross-hall, front hall, wing-rooms and attics line the front hall, the ancient educational Chinese representative. Confucius and his 72 wise disciples are enshrined here and in the Shuixing pavilion of the second quadrangle, the Emperor Wenchang who is said to be in charge of all intellectuals fates, is enshrined here. Nearby, a lotus pool is reserved well and the stone carvings in front of the attic, the stone fences and drum stone are all repaired as they were. The wooden and stone carvings in the attic are carved with fortune designs.
