Tian Tan Buddha, Hong Kong – A Peaceful Escape Above the Clouds 🚡✨
Honestly, visiting Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) was one of the calmest and most beautiful moments of my Hong Kong trip. It’s not just a tourist spot—it really feels like stepping into a peaceful world above the clouds.
🚡 The Cable Car Ride – My Favorite Part!
The journey there was already an adventure. I took the Ngong Ping 360 cable car and wow, it was such a beautiful ride! Watching the city slowly disappear and the mountains get closer was magical. The higher we went, the cooler the air felt, and the fog started to roll in like we were floating right into the sky. If you’re up for it, try the glass floor cabin—it’s a little scary but super fun!
🌫️ Chilly & Misty Weather
When I arrived, the weather totally surprised me. It was cool, quiet, and covered in mist. I didn’t expect it to be that cold, so definitely bring a jacket! Sometimes, the Buddha was half hidden by clouds, which made the whole place feel extra peaceful and almost unreal. It’s like being in a movie scene where the world just slows down.
🛕 Up Close with the Big Buddha
Standing under the Big Buddha was incredible—huge! I loved slowly walking up the stairs, just taking it all in. Even though there were other people around, it didn’t feel crowded or rushed. The calmness there really made me forget about the busy city life.
✨ Would I Go Again? 100% Yes.
If you ever go to Hong Kong, please don’t miss this. The cable car, the cool weather, the peaceful vibe—everything just felt right. It’s one of those places that stays with you. 💭💕

🏯 A Majestic Journey Through Time at Matsuyama Castle
Visiting Matsuyama Castle was one of the most enchanting moments of our trip. Perched atop Mount Katsuyama, the castle commands an impressive presence, and our cable-car ride up set the tone perfectly—an elevated introduction that built anticipation at every turn.
The castle’s traditional architecture—white plaster walls contrasting with dark wooden beams—felt like stepping into a samurai tale. Inside the main keep, we climbed steep staircases and peered through narrow openings once used by defenders. Each view from the towers offered sweeping panoramas of Matsuyama city below and the distant Seto Inland Sea glistening in the sun.
What surprised me was the level of preservation and living atmosphere. It didn’t feel like a static museum—it felt real and full of character. Museum displays shared the area’s history, but the highlight was truly soaking in the view and atmosphere from the top. We spent more time than expected, just sitting outside on the grounds and taking in the serene yet majestic surroundings.
If you’re considering visiting one of Japan’s hilltop castles, Matsuyama Castle belongs at the top of your list—it delivers on history, scenery, and transport-by-cable-car thrill all in one unforgettable package.

🌾 Stairway to Heaven: LongJi’s Golden Rice Terraces 🌄
If you’re anywhere near Guilin, don’t miss the LongJi Rice Terraces. These stunning “dragon’s backbone” fields have been carved into the mountainsides for over 650 years by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic minority groups — an ancient feat of engineering and pure beauty.
We visited in autumn, when the paddies glow golden – absolutely magical. Took the cable car up (highly recommend unless you’re keen on a serious hike!), and the views from the top were unreal.
Also, make time for lunch at the little restaurant near the summit – generous portions, delicious local dishes, and a panoramic view that makes it all taste even better.
10/10 experience – peaceful, breathtaking, and deeply rooted in tradition.

A Breathtaking Ride on the Akechidaira Ropeway
As the cable car ascended over the snow-covered landscape, a sense of awe washed over me. The Akechidaira Ropeway, nestled in the scenic Nikko region, offered a mesmerizing view of the mountains blanketed in white. The crisp winter air and the gentle swaying of the cabin added to the thrill of the ride.
Below, the winding roads snaked through the terrain, leading to the observation deck at the top. From there, the breathtaking sight of Kegon Falls cascading down the rocky cliffs was truly unforgettable. The contrast of the icy mist and the rugged mountains painted a picture of nature’s raw beauty.
As I stood at the viewpoint, gazing at the panoramic landscape of Lake Chuzenji shimmering in the distance, I couldn’t help but feel a deep appreciation for the moment. The serenity of the highlands, the crisp mountain breeze, and the sheer majesty of the scenery made the ride an unforgettable experience.
Descending back down, I took one last glance at the stunning vistas, knowing that the memory of this aerial journey over Nikko’s winter wonderland would stay with me forever.
