Bhaktapur is warm welcome to Middle age
In my opinion, best is spend 1 day and 1 night in this amaizing city.
The city offers 4 squares, each of which is unique and requires close attention. Do not spare 500 rupees and take a guide to immerse yourself in history. It is better to stay at the Hotel Traditional, right overlooking the palace square. Do not forget to try the royal yogurt and a specific set of Newari food made from bitten rice.
After 9pm the city centre comes to a standstill, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the unrivalled atmosphere of this ancient city. Sit on the steps of majestic temples or stroll along the streets with carved shutters, drink coffee in Himalayan java or matka in one of the local cafes.

Dattatreya temple mandala danamic
The Dattatreya temple in Nepal presents a unique blend of religious traditions. While dedicated to Dattatreya, the temple doesn't feature the typical three-headed image representing the combined forms of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. Instead, it houses separate images of Som, Durbasha, and Dutt, representing different aspects of Dattatreya.
This unconventional representation, coupled with the presence of Vishnu symbols like Garuda, conch, and chakra, suggests a fascinating interplay of deities. The prominence of Vishnu symbols might imply a local emphasis on Vishnu worship, while the popularity of Shiva-related festivals indicates a strong connection to Shiva within the community.
This temple's circular mandala design, often associated with cosmic order and unity, further emphasizes the integration of various divine aspects. The temple's unique configuration reflects the dynamic nature of religious practices and their ability to evolve, adapting to the specific beliefs and needs of a community.

Bhaktapur : Nepal’s Living Musuem Awaits You
Visiting Bhaktapur felt like stepping into a time machine. The cobblestone streets, intricately carved temples, and ancient courtyards transported me to Nepal’s rich medieval past. I wandered through Durbar Square, marveling at the exquisite woodwork and pagodas, while the smell of fresh pottery and local delicacies like juju dhau (king curd) filled the air.
The city’s slower pace allowed me to soak in the vibrant Newari culture. Watching artisans create pottery at the iconic Pottery Square and admiring the breathtaking Nyatapola Temple were unforgettable moments. Bhaktapur isn’t just a place to visit; it’s an experience to savor.

Bhaktapur’s stunning royal architecture
We had the pleasure of stopping by Bhaktapur Durbar Square and wandering through this beautiful historical district.
These buildings and temples have been so well preserved; it’s an incredible feat, and a testament to the locals’ appreciation of their royal roots here. It truly feels as if you’re walking amongst them in the time period they were occupied by royalty, which was around 14th century!
A lot of appreciation and respect towards the government and locals who value these structures so much, and take pride in their ancestors work to such an extent. #bhaktapur #Nepal #architecture
