Second highest moto pass in the world!
#postandearn #lehladakh #ladakh #india #kardunglapass
Riding up to Khardung La Pass was one of the highlights of our Ladakh trip. At 5,359 meters, it's the second-highest motorable pass in the world, and you can feel the altitude as soon as you step out of the vehicle. When we visited in late April, the entire area was blanketed in snow - absolutely stunning, but freezing cold even with multiple layers.
The road up is an adventure in itself - beautiful but rough in sections, with steep drops and sharp turns. We came by car (not motorcycle, which many daredevils attempt), and even then it required careful driving. The views along the way are incredible, with snow-capped peaks in every direction.
This was our first stop during a four-day Nubra Valley loop, and what an introduction to Ladakh's landscapes it was! The army canteen at the top serves surprisingly good hot chai - a lifesaver in the cold. Don't expect to stay long at the summit though - between the thin air and freezing temperatures, most visitors just snap photos by the famous signboard before heading down.
An unforgettable experience that really makes you appreciate both the beauty and harshness of the Himalayas. Just take it slow, dress warmly, and enjoy those breathtaking mountain views.
One day itinerary for Leh
#cityplaybook #lehladakh #ladakh #india
One-Day Leh Itinerary
✨ Morning:
Start your day at the Leh Palace (Royal Palace). This 17th-century palace offers stunning views over Leh and a glimpse into Ladakh's royal history. Walk from downtown uphill via maze of old streets, there are numerous routes to get there. Spend about an hour exploring the old corridors and panoramic viewpoints.
✨ Late Morning:
Walk downhill to the Old Castle ruins. The short hike up from Royal Palace (about 20 minutes) is worth it for the ancient Buddhist prayer flags, crumbling walls, and another fantastic view of Leh (the best viewpoint in Leh).
✨ Afternoon:
Head to downtown for lunch and spend some time exploring it during the daytime. Neha snacks is a good option for lunch serving Indian food. Their saffron lassy is a top notch!
✨ Sunset
Head to Shanti Stupa (about 20 mins by car/taxi or half of an hour climb upstairs). This white-domed shanti stupa is especially beautiful at sunset, with its bright colors against the mountain backdrop. Walk around, soak in the spiritual vibe, and enjoy the 360° views.
✨ Evening:
Head back to downtown. Spend some time strolling Leh Market (the best hours to visit the market are past sunset and till 8pm)—browse Tibetan handicrafts, and try local snacks. Pick one of numerous restaurants for dinner. Ladakh Himalayan kitchen serves delicious Indian and Tibetan food. Try khawa tea as well.
Tips:
- Wear good shoes—there's a lot of walking and hiking.
- Taxis are cheap for hopping between spots if you prefer to do it in a relaxed way.
Perfect mix of history, culture, and food!
Best view in Leh
#cityplaybook #lehladakh #india #ladakh
Visiting Tsemo Maitreya Temple and the old castle ruins is one of Leh's hidden gems. It's just a short 20-minute hike uphill from the Royal Palace—a bit steep but totally doable if you take it slow. If you're not up for walking, you can also take a cab the long way around by road. Either way, it's worth the trip.
We were practically the only ones there, which made the whole place feel peaceful and untouched. While you can't go inside the temple itself, exploring the grounds and the crumbling old castle walls is amazing. The complex is bigger than it looks from below, with little paths leading to different viewpoints.
But the real reason to come? The view. Standing by the colorful prayer flags with all of Leh spread out below you is unbeatable—probably the best panorama in town. Go around sunset when the light hits the mountains just right. It's the perfect quiet escape after seeing the busier Royal Palace below.
A great spot if you want to feel like you've discovered something special without the crowds. Just bring water for the walk up!
Royal Palace lost in mountains
#cityplaybook #lehladakh #ladakh #india
Visiting Leh's Royal Palace is one of those experiences that's more about the journey than the destination. The huge building sits high above town, visible from almost everywhere in Leh. The best way to reach it? Ditch the taxi and walk up through the maze of charming old streets, zigzagging past prayer wheels, tiny shops, and whitewashed houses with those iconic Ladakhi windows.
At ₹400 entrance fee, it's not cheap by local standards, and honestly? The inside feels a bit empty compared to the grand exterior. But the real magic is standing on those massive walls looking down over all of Leh—the view alone makes it worth it. You really get a sense of how this place dominated the valley for centuries.
Go late afternoon when the town below starts lighting up. It's the perfect spot to grasp Leh's unique mix of history and mountain beauty. Just don't expect museum-quality displays inside—the palace itself is the main exhibit here.
Cozy little town lost in mountains
#cityplaybook #india #ladakh #lehladakh
Leh is such a charming little city—wandering through its old streets feels like stepping back in time. The whitewashed buildings with their colorful windows look amazing against the mountain backdrop. Even in April, it was seriously cold, especially at night. Most guesthouses don’t have heating, but the owners are really sweet about piling on extra blankets to keep you warm.
The food scene here is surprisingly great—from cozy Tibetan momo spots to little cafés serving amazing thukpa. You’ll eat well without spending much. The whole place has this laid-back, traveler-friendly vibe where you can just take your time exploring.
It’s the perfect base for trips around Ladakh, but the city itself is worth a couple days just to soak up the atmosphere. Cold but completely lovely. Just pack warm clothes and enjoy the slow pace!
Moonland - Leh Ladakh 🇮🇳☺️

Moonland – The Moon Land on Earth at Lamayuru
Moonland is a unique tourist attraction in Leh Ladakh, located near the village of Lamayuru on the Leh–Kargil route. It has an unusual landscape that seems to have come out of another planet. The soft undulating surface, the soft gold and silver-gray sandstones reflect sunlight in a way that looks like the surface of the moon, hence the name Moonland.
Impressive features:
• Imaginative landscape: The naturally eroded sandstones have created strange patterns that resemble the surface of the moon, something found only here in India.
• Isolation: The quiet and uncrowded area feels like you have stepped into another world.
• Near Lamayuru Monastery: You can combine your Moonland trip with a visit to Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh, for both spiritual and cultural enrichment.
• Views along the way: Driving through the winding roads of Leh–Kargil is an exhilarating experience. With views of mountains, deserts and changing sky along the way
Caution:
The area is high and remote, so be prepared, eat light food and carry enough water.
Summary:
Moonland is not just a tourist attraction, but an experience that is out of the ordinary world. With a landscape that is almost unbelievable on earth. If you are a traveler who loves nature, mystery and exploration, this is a place you should not miss.

Impressive features:

• Beautiful architecture: The whitewashed structure is decorated with detailed depictions of the life of Lord Buddha.

Air India flight review to Leh Ladakh 🇮🇳☺️
Hello, on April 14, 2025, we traveled to Leh Ladakh
by Air India flight at 17.55 and arrived in New Delhi at 20.55. This airline provided food on board, which was Indian food. We could eat a little bit of it 😅 The atmosphere on the plane was good, and there was no Indian smell that people are worried about.
Then, we waited for the connecting flight to Leh. We had to pick up our bags to reload them. Just follow the signs for domestic transfer. There will be staff in that area to reload our bags.
Our connecting flight to Leh Ladakh was at 6.45 and arrived at around 8.10. We chose to sit on the left side of the plane to see a very beautiful mountain view from the plane. ☺️

The first 2 days when you arrive in Leh Ladakh, you have to adjust your body to the high altitude first. Walking around the Leh market is a great way to relax. ☺️

Pangong Lake ☺️
A saltwater lake in the Himalayas, it is 4350m high and is as big as two countries: India (Leh) and China (Tibet). It is well-known and a tourist attraction because it was used to film many Indian movies. The lake has a beautiful view like a painting. It is a view of the Himalayas, alternating with hundreds of mountains as a backdrop. Some mountains are so high that there is still snow at the top.
The mountain is windy all year round.

360 viewpoint in Leh
#postandearn #leh #lehladakh #india
Shanti Stupa is a famous spot in Leh, Ladakh.
I've started my altitude acclimatization by climbing uphill to see it.
It is an easy hike (by steps or by road) and the view totally worth the effort. It is best to come early morning or for the sunset.
The place provides 360 degrees view to the mountain tops. And it was just breathtaking!
Tip: it's getting very windy there in the evening, make sure you have your layers.
Lost in time, eternal monastery surrounded by mountains
#postandearn #ladakh #leh #lehladakh #india
Thiksey monastery is extremely impressive and a must visit in Ladakh.
I went there by public transportation from Leh. First you have to catch a small bus to Choglamsar and from there a shared taxi to Thiksey monastery. It is a bit confusing but locals are helpful and will point put where to get in and out.
The monastery is huge and it took me over 3 hours of slowly walking and exploring. It has lots of passages and rooftop access at different levels.
Photography inside monastery rooms isn't allowed but tourists still can go inside and see the interiors.
Additional bonus were blooming apricot trees 😍 That happened in mid April.
Ancient Buddhist monastery lost in mountains
#postandearn #india #leh #lehladakh #ladakh
Hemis monastery is a beautiful, very old Buddhist monastery lost in mountains and accessible from Leh. I went on a rental scooter and the trip was wonderful!
The road is good, the views of surrounding mountains are stunning and the monastery itself is serene and tranquil.
The monastery wasn't crowded and lots of monks were everywhere. I walked through different rooms and passages, enjoyed the view from rooftops and then just sat on one of the benches at the yard and enjoyed details of the temple buildings and listened to chanting.
Overall, highly recommend this place.
Tip: beware that you must take off your shoes to go inside.
Tip 2: they ask not to take photos inside the monastery, please, be respectful.

#Lake travel, India travel, not very tired 😍
Pangong Lake in Leh, Ladakh is a saltwater lake at 4,350 meters above sea level. Every day, the water changes color, depending on the temperature and sunlight hitting the water surface. It is another destination that should not be missed.
For tourists who visit this area,
The landscape in this area has a complex mountain range.
The Shyok River flows through the valley,
resulting in a beautiful and unusual view.
And it is unbelievable that we will encounter a large desert.
This point is called 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘀.

Morning and late afternoon are the best times.
Because the sunlight is not too hot.
The journey from Leh takes 6-7 hours
via 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀, a road at an altitude of 5600m.
Although the actual distance is not that far, the road is
rocky and rough. Some parts do not have shoulders.
Just passing cars is difficult, making it take longer than usual.
So after driving with a sore back for half a day,
staying in Nubra Valley for a night and then returning the next day
is a good plan for this route.
Near the village, there is also a 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 temple
that you should visit and pay homage to.

Back to Leh Ladakh 2024
📍Leh Ladakh
A place located in the north of India, it is another bucket list for many people. We are one of them. We wanted to come here since before Covid. Until time passed, we finally got to go.
When it comes to Leh, we think of snowy mountains, the beautiful Himalayas. But one thing that impressed us the most is the people. We were impressed since the local guide we chose, Jimmy. I remember that I searched for a long time and asked Jimmy for a booking for more than half a year, lol. We asked for a discount, changed accommodation many times before it was settled, but Jimmy arranged everything according to our requests and did not ask for a deposit. We were surprised and suspicious before going, but it went well.
Our driver was Stanzin. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought Jimmy was the one taking care of us, but he changed people instead. Because Jimmy drives small cars, but what we chose was Tempo. Stanzin is very polite, kind, and takes good care of us. We were impressed from the first time we met. Whatever we wanted, he arranged everything for us. His kindness even stopped to ask and picked up people who broke down along the way, which was a gang of about 6 Thai people. This made us have more friends to travel with. It was quite warm. It's a pleasure to help you.
I can't not mention the locals or local people. We are lucky to always meet lovely people. This makes this place another place that I am very impressed with. I think that in the future, if I have a chance, I will definitely go back again. I miss you, Leh Ladakh.

Chang La Pass
#tripแจกโรงแรมฟรี Chang La Pass is a high mountain pass in Ladakh (17,688 ft) between Leh and the Shyok River Valley. It is considered the second highest road in Ladakh.
Chang La Pass is the main route to Pangong Lake, a beautiful stopover. It is an adventurous and oxygen-poor place, but the reward is the magnificent view of the Himalayas waiting at the top.
