Surin Beach was exactly the kind of escape I needed after the buzz of Patong. It’s quieter, cleaner, and has this laid-back elegance that sets it apart from the busier beaches in Phuket. The sand here is soft and golden, with fewer crowds and almost no beach vendors hassling you. The water was a clear turquoise—so inviting I couldn’t resist diving straight in. On the day I visited, the waves were calm enough for a relaxed swim, and I saw a few snorkelers further out near the rocks. What really stood out was how peaceful everything felt. I fell in love with the most unassuming place! If you have never ventured to to island of Koh Lon, I suggest you add it to your list of “really should see/visit” places. When I thought about Thailand beaches in the past, this island NEVER crossed my mind. And, if I’m being totally honest, I didn’t even know it existed. Thanks to my husband wanting to do a quick beach trip from the SE Asian country of Myanmar that we currently reside in, we came upon this wonderful place. It’s not as popular as Phuket among western foreigners but it’s just as beautiful. Dare I say even more beautiful because the beaches were not over crowded with people and hotels. This place is beautiful, it’s the perfect place to go to unwind and enjoy nature. The beaches were wonderful and the weather in December makes for perfect swimming water temps. It was really cool exploring this tiny island by motorbike, going from one end to the other in about 10 minutes. We will for sure be coming back here. 📍Koh Samui We arrived in Koh Samui on a ferry from Surat Thani. As we approached the pier, the ferry was flooded with heavy rain- so our first day & a half in Koh Samui were pretty cloudy & rainy. We tried to enjoy it nevertheless! On our last day, the sun was shining & we headed to the Wat Plai Laem temples this morning - probably the craziest ones we’ve seen!
