Chilling Above the Clouds: A Playful Escape to Genting Highlands
#gentingtrip #GentingHighlands #MalaysiaTravel #HillResort #GentingSkyWorlds #ResortsWorldGenting #HighlandEscape #CoolWeatherMalaysia #ThemeParkAdventure #KLGetaway #NatureAndEntertainment
Genting Highlands is where cool mountain air meets endless entertainment. Just an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur, this hilltop resort city offers a mix of excitement, relaxation, and natural beauty.
I visited for a day trip and it felt like a mini vacation — from the moment the cable car ride soared above the rainforest, the view was already worth the journey. Once at the top, I explored Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, browsed through SkyAvenue Mall, and enjoyed the unique experience of walking through clouds on the open-air platforms.
Whether you’re into casinos, shopping, family-friendly fun, or simply escaping the city heat, Genting delivers. The temperature was refreshingly cool (around 18–22°C), which made it perfect for strolling around without breaking a sweat.
Travel Tips:
• Pack a jacket: It can get chilly, especially in the evenings or on misty days.
• Buy theme park tickets in advance: Genting SkyWorlds gets busy — booking ahead saves time and hassle.
• Start early: To avoid crowds and long lines for the cable car.
• Bring an umbrella or raincoat: Weather can be unpredictable and showers are common.
• Try the cable car (Awana SkyWay): A scenic 10-minute ride with panoramic views of the forest and mountains.
• Plan your meals: There are plenty of dining options, from fast food to high-end restaurants, but queues can be long during weekends.
• Comfortable footwear: You’ll be walking quite a bit around the malls, parks, and outdoors.
• Check event schedules: Genting often hosts shows, concerts, and seasonal festivals — check ahead for surprises.
How to Get There:
• From Kuala Lumpur (KL):
• By car/taxi: Approx. 1 hour drive from KL city.
• By bus: Buses depart from KL Sentral or 1 Utama to
Awana Station, where you transfer to the cable car.
• By cable car (Awana SkyWay):
• Ride from Awana Station to the top in about 10 minutes.
“Ion Delemen Hotel: A Serene Mountain Retreat in Genting Highlands”
#gentingtrip
the Ion Delemen Hotel in Genting Highlands:
I recently stayed at Ion Delemen Hotel in Genting Highlands, and it was a truly refreshing experience. The hotel’s location is ideal—perched high above the city with breathtaking mountain views and cool, crisp air. The room was spacious, clean, and modern, with a balcony that let us enjoy the serene surroundings.
What really stood out was the hospitality of the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and quick to assist with any requests. The complimentary shuttle to Genting SkyAvenue was convenient, and the breakfast buffet had a decent spread with both local and international choices.
The indoor heated pool and sky garden were perfect for relaxation, especially in the misty evenings. It’s a fantastic place for couples, families, or anyone looking to unwind away from the crowds. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway!
“The World’s Largest Hotel Playground in the Clouds”

Genting First World Hotel, based on my stay feedback
I stayed at the First World Hotel for a weekend getaway and was amazed by how huge the property is!
The check-in process was surprisingly smooth considering how many people were there. The room was compact but clean—perfect for a short stay. The location is unbeatable, right next to the SkyAvenue mall and the casino.
It’s not luxurious, but it’s very convenient and good value for money if you’re mainly there for entertainment. The food court nearby has plenty of options too. I’d definitely return for a fun trip with friends!

“The Heavenly Gateway: Chin Swee Temple Above the Clouds”
#gentingtrip
Chin Swee Caves Temple is a beautiful and culturally rich Taoist temple located in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, about 4,600 feet above sea level. It was founded by the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, the founder of the Genting Group, in honor of Reverend Chin Swee, a Buddhist monk renowned for his spiritual powers and ability to summon rain and drive away evil spirits.
Highlights of Chin Swee Temple:
Giant Buddha Statue: A towering seated Buddha, one of the most iconic and photographed elements of the temple.
Ten Chambers of Hell: A vivid and dramatic depiction of the Buddhist concept of hell, with life-size dioramas representing the consequences of one’s earthly deeds.
Nine-Storey Pagoda: Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest and mountains.
Scenic Views: The temple offers sweeping views of the Titiwangsa Mountains and often sits above the clouds, adding a mystical ambiance.
Cultural and Religious Significance: It combines Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian elements, making it an important spiritual site.
World’s First Japanese Tea House in a Tropical Forest!
#gentingtrip
Did you know there’s a real Japanese Tea House hidden inside a tropical rainforest? I found it at the Japanese Village! At 3,500 feet above sea level, the air was so crisp and refreshing. The tea house looked just like the ones in Kyoto, with wooden architecture and simple yet elegant vibes.
Although it was drizzling slightly, it made the whole place even more enchanting. Mist floated around the tea house, making it feel like I was walking through a Japanese folktale. Such a surreal experience just a short trip from Genting!
Where Stone Bridges Meet Storybook Gardens
#gentingtrip
Crossing the moss-covered stone bridges surrounded by koi ponds and misty trees felt like walking into a fairy tale. Everything looked soft, fresh, and full of life, like a scene from a Ghibli movie.
The sound of flowing water and the sight of colorful flowers blooming around the stones created such a soothing atmosphere. I could have spent hours just wandering and daydreaming here.
Mist, Moss, and Mystery
#gentingtrip
The mist that wrapped around the Japanese Garden made everything look a little more mysterious and magical. Mossy stones, old lanterns, and bamboo fences peeked through the fog like secret treasures waiting to be discovered.
It’s a place that invites you to slow down, listen closely to the sounds of nature, and find joy in every tiny detail. I didn’t expect a short stop before Genting to leave such a lasting impression!
Nature’s Hidden Jewels
#gentingtrip
Wandering around the garden, I spotted clusters of bright purple berries hanging like treasures among the green leaves. They looked like tiny grapes, sparkling with raindrops under the misty air.
It’s these little surprises that make the Japanese Garden at Bukit Tinggi so charming — you never know what beauty you’ll find just around the corner.

🇲🇾 Conquering Boot Camp Training at Genting SkyWorlds
One of the most surprising and enjoyable highlights of our visit to Genting SkyWorlds was trying out Boot Camp Training — an energetic, obstacle-style attraction.
Located in the Andromeda Base zone, Boot Camp Training is designed like a futuristic military training ground, perfect for adventurers of all ages who want to challenge themselves in a fun and interactive way.
Virtual Queue (VQ) reservation is compulsory for this attraction. The adventure course and rope challenges are great fun for kids, though they might feel a bit easy for adults. The Zip Coaster looked thrilling, but unfortunately, it was closed during our visit. A minimum height of 110 cm is required to participate, and visitors must wear fully enclosed shoes for safety.

🇲🇾 What You Need to Know Before Visiting Genting SkyWorlds
Newly opened in 2022, Genting SkyWorlds is an outdoor amusement park located in Genting Highlands. Spanning a vast area, the park is divided into nine themed zones, featuring more than 25 rides and attractions. It is also the first theme park I have ever visited that uses a Virtual Queue (VQ) system to help reduce waiting times for rides.
Operating daily for seven hours, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, it’s nearly impossible to experience every ride in a single visit. Therefore, it’s important to plan ahead to make the most of your time.
First, be sure to download the Genting SkyWorlds app. After entering the park, save your ticket to the app by scanning the QR code on your physical ticket. You can also add the tickets of your friends and family members under the ‘My Group’ section for easy management.
The app allows you to view the park map, check the status of each attraction, and monitor real-time waiting times. Each ticket includes three complimentary VQ reservations, so it’s best to make advance reservations for the popular rides as waiting times can easily exceed 30 minutes. Be sure to secure your reservations the moment you enter the park, as VQ slots for popular attractions are snapped up quickly. Note that for some attractions, a VQ reservation is compulsory.
Plan well, move quickly — and most importantly, have fun and enjoy your visit to Genting SkyWorlds!

Good spot for ice cream and brunch
This is the ice cream place and the pink cafe inside of genting view resort. We were there over the weekend and had plans to stop by. We came here at noon but unfortunately the restaurants are fully packed. I don't know if it was due to weekends or the place is popular. It is kind of a trendy spot.
On the first visit we only had the chance to try their desserts in their Ice Cream Shop. Another time we sat down for their breakfast and brunch options. The taste of the ice cream is decent and the combinations of toppings were also good. It is kind of expensive for brunch and while it tasted nice, I wish the prices were slightly better.

A Walk Through the Bamboo Gate
#gentingtrip
At the entrance to the Japanese Garden, there’s a simple but beautiful bamboo gate. Walking through it instantly made me feel like I had entered a hidden, ancient world. The path led to more surprises: mossy stones, tiny bridges, trickling streams, and colorful plants peeking out of the mist.
It wasn’t crowded at all, so it was the perfect chance to slow down and just enjoy every step. The cool, misty atmosphere made everything even more dreamlike. Definitely a must-see if you’re passing through Bukit Tinggi!
The Tatami Spa Hidden in the Forest
#gentingtrip
Deep within the misty trails of the Japanese Village, I found the Tatami Spa — a hidden spot perfect for relaxation lovers. Though I didn’t have time for a full spa session, just walking past it was already enough to feel the calmness in the air.
Imagine getting a massage in a traditional tatami-style room, surrounded by rainforest views and cool mountain breezes. If you’re planning a stopover on your Genting trip, adding the Tatami Spa to your list could be a perfect way to unwind!
Finding Zen by the Waterfall
#gentingtrip
While wandering around the Japanese Garden, I stumbled upon a small cascading waterfall tucked among mossy rocks and vibrant flowers. It was absolutely breathtaking! The gentle sound of water flowing and the fresh mountain air made me feel so at peace.
There were a few people sitting nearby, just enjoying the scenery in silence. It’s one of those moments you don’t want to rush — just sit, breathe, and soak in all the natural beauty. Who knew something this serene could be found on the way to Genting?
Kimonos and Zen at Bukit Tinggi!
#gentingtrip
One of the cutest highlights of my trip was the kimono rental booth at the Japanese Garden! For just RM25 (adult) and RM20 (child), you could dress up in beautiful traditional Japanese outfits. I saw visitors strolling through the garden paths dressed in colorful kimonos — truly picture-perfect!
Even if you’re not dressing up, just watching others twirl and pose in the foggy gardens added so much charm to the whole place. A little slice of Japan in Malaysia, wrapped in greenery and smiles!
Into the Misty Japanese Garden!
#gentingtrip
Walking into the Japanese Garden felt like stepping into another world. Surrounded by thick mist and lush greenery, the garden had a magical and peaceful vibe. The first thing that greeted me was a golden Buddha hand monument tucked under a pagoda roof — it looked so calming amidst the fog.
The higher I walked, the cooler it got! Everything around me, from the stone paths to the bamboo fences, looked like scenes from a dreamy movie. If you’re looking for a hidden gem near Genting Highlands, this is definitely one you shouldn’t miss!
Charming Escape: A Day at Colmar Tropicale
#gentingtrip
Colmar Tropicale was a delightful surprise. Tucked in the cool hills of Bukit Tinggi, this colorful French-themed village instantly transported me to Europe. I spent the day wandering through cobblestone alleys, admiring pastel buildings, and enjoying fresh pastries at cozy cafés. The atmosphere was peaceful, with fewer crowds than I expected, making it perfect for slow, scenic walks. I also visited the nearby Japanese Village — a hidden gem with tranquil gardens and koi ponds. While the area is smaller than it looks in photos, the charm and relaxed vibe made it a memorable getaway. It’s definitely worth a visit for a unique, easy escape from Kuala Lumpur.
A Touch of France in Malaysia: My Day at Colmar Tropicale
#gentingtrip
Visiting Colmar Tropicale felt like stepping into a charming French village without leaving Malaysia. The colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and flower-filled balconies created a whimsical, storybook atmosphere. I loved strolling through the quaint square, sipping coffee at a French café, and exploring the nearby Japanese Village for a peaceful escape. There were also fun activities like horse riding and the adventurous Flying Fox. Though it’s small and a bit touristy, the experience was delightful and perfect for a relaxing day trip. Just an hour from Kuala Lumpur, Colmar Tropicale is a refreshing break from the city’s busy pace.
Glamping Vibes, Skewers and Beer Under the Stars — Tai Chuan Camping Bar at Genting!
Looking for a super vibey spot to chill at night in Genting Highlands? You need to check out Tai Chuan Camping Bar!
This place totally surprised me — it’s a camping-themed chuanchuan bar where you can enjoy hot skewers and icy cold beer under the stars.

A Cozy Lunch in Nature at Pineyard, Genting Highlands
#gentingtrip
During my Genting trip, I decided to have lunch at Pineyard, a hidden gem surrounded by greenery. The whole café had a peaceful and refreshing vibe, with wooden structures and open-air seating that made me feel so close to nature. I ordered the carbonara spaghetti and it was creamy, flavorful, and topped with crispy bacon bits – so satisfying after a morning of exploring!
After lunch, I wandered around the café and admired the beautiful forest view. The seating area facing the greenery was so calming that I didn’t feel like leaving! They also had a selection of pastries that looked really tempting. If you're visiting Genting and want a cozy meal away from the busy malls, Pineyard is definitely a must-visit spot.
