One of the highlights of my Chiang Rai trip was definitely visiting Wat Rong Suea Ten, also known as the Blue Temple. The moment I arrived, I was blown away by the vibrant blue color of the entire temple—it’s so unique and absolutely stunning in person! ✨ The details here are incredible. From the golden accents to the beautiful, modern murals inside, everything feels so fresh and different from the usual temples I’ve seen. I really loved the big white Buddha statue sitting calmly in the middle—it gave me such a peaceful vibe. 🕊️ I went in the morning when it wasn’t too crowded, which was perfect for enjoying the place and snapping lots of photos 📸. The temple isn’t very big, so you can comfortably walk around and explore in about 30–45 minutes. Don’t forget to dress modestly—shoulders and knees covered. If you forget, they have wraps you can borrow at the entrance. Also, there are cute little stalls outside selling drinks and local snacks, and I had the best butterfly pea ice cream there! 🍦💙 If you’re in Chiang Rai, I totally recommend making a quick stop here. It’s an easy ride from the city and you can even combine it with the White Temple and the Black House for a full day of temple hopping. Traveling to #Chiangrai takes about 3 hours drive from #Chiangmai. The Blue Temple or Wat Rong Suea Ten is also known as “Temple of the Dancing Tiger” is designed by Putha Kabkaew, a student of the artist who built the White Temple. The story was that before it was built, there was an ancient temple that stood here, and there were tigers that were said to have roamed freely over the grounds when it was abandoned nearly a century ago. Painted with calming cerulean, the Blue Temple is adorned with gleaming gold trim and surrounded by blue and gold statues of magical Buddhist beings and mythological characters. The centerpiece of inside the main temple is a Buddha statue, made from pearly porcelain that seems to manage to look kinda eerie and somewhat blueish in the prayer hall. He sits with one hand pointed to the ground, a representation of the moment he achieved enlightenment. This is a beautiful temple to visit when you are in Chiang Rai too…. And don’t forget to end your visit here with some coconut ice cream!!!!
