The History of Longhua Temple in Shanghai 🌟🇨🇳
Located just south of downtown Shanghai, China, is Longhua Temple. Known for it’s tall pagoda and rich history, this ancient temple has a history of more than 1700 years.
In the temple complex there are six halls: Daxiong Hall, Maitreya Hall, Sutra Building, Sansheng Hall and Abbot’s room. Each has different varieties of Buddha statues and a special story. On the East and West side of the temple are Bell and Drum towers. Be prepared to pay extra to ring the bell!
During the Lunar New Year, Longhua Temple hosts a bell ringing event to welcome the new year. It’s also common for visitors to put incense above their head to wish for luck for the new year 🧧
Although there is a long history, the temple itself has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. It was last destroyed during the Tang dynasty and rebuilt in the Northern Song Dynasty. The pagoda is actually tilting slightly due to the soft soil in Shanghai!

Canoeing Around Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park 🛶
Located about a 2 hour drive from downtown Shanghai, Haiwan National Forest Park is a lovely escape from city life. We stayed in the campsite with glamping tents ~ complete with air conditioning, a fridge and full bathroom with toilet and shower. At night there was the chance to play karaoke and eat. We brought our own food and had a hot pot and barbecue.
The next morning we took the golf carts to the large network of lakes and got in the canoes. We had a guide who showed us the way around and even played some games with us along the way. It was a very fun experience canoeing and being surrounded by such lush greenery and nature was fantastic. It’s a great escape from the city for a weekend trip. 🌲🌳
Back at the campsite there is also a building with a gym and small cafe inside. They provided breakfast and also we ate lunch here!

Sculpture art exhibition
For a limited time only, catch the impressive sculpture art exhibition in the atrium of Paragon shopping centre! Titled “The Awakened Warrior”, this exhibition is a collaboration between Ren Zhe Studio and Linda Gallery to showcase these intricately crafted metallic sculptures and is free to view for the public. Some of them are life-sized and taller than the average human! You can find various Chinese heroes and characters on different fighting or combat poses, but they look absolutely elegant and mesmerising to admire.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outdoor grill fest
What’s better than just chilling out on the beach? Having a festival with awesome barbecued food to go along with it! Sentosa organised a grill fest that saw the likes of over 20 vendors lining the Siloso Beach area.
There were so many good choices like beef steak, burgers, mentaiko seafood and even a live roasting station. I had a very memorable experience here and even though this festival is over, do keep a lookout as Sentosa often organises such fun events from time to time!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
