Hagia Sophia – A Sacred Symphony of Time
In the heart of Istanbul, where East meets West, stands the majestic Hagia Sophia — a monument that has transcended empires, religions, and centuries. Walking into its vast interior, I felt completely humbled. It’s not just a building — it’s a living narrative carved in stone, mosaic, and light.
Originally built in 537 AD as a Byzantine cathedral, Hagia Sophia has since been a mosque, a museum, and again a mosque. Each transformation adds another chapter to its soul. What amazed me most was the way Christian and Islamic elements coexist — glittering mosaics of Christ and the Virgin Mary alongside towering Arabic calligraphy and mihrab.
The central dome, seemingly suspended in air, creates an ethereal space bathed in soft, golden light. The acoustics are incredible — even a whisper echoes like a chant through history. It’s impossible not to feel connected to something greater inside those ancient walls.
From the upper galleries, the views are breathtaking. Looking down at the massive interior and out through the windows at the Blue Mosque and Bosphorus, I felt suspended between time periods and cultures.
Best Time to Visit: Spring and fall offer pleasant weather and smaller crowds. Early morning visits allow for quieter, more reflective experiences.
Location: Sultan Ahmet, Ayasofya Meydanı No:1, 34122 Fatih/İstanbul, Turkey

Timeless Majesty at Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi
Visiting Humayun’s Tomb was like stepping into a history book—except the colors were brighter, the air carried the scent of ancient stone and flowers, and the grandeur was overwhelming in the best possible way. Located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, this 16th-century Mughal masterpiece is more than just a monument—it’s a story carved in red sandstone and white marble, the beginning of a new era in Indo-Islamic architecture.
What struck me most was the symmetry. Standing at the center of the lush Charbagh garden, you feel an immediate sense of balance and calm. I visited around 8:00 AM on a winter morning, when the air was crisp, the crowds were few, and the golden sunlight made the entire structure glow like something out of a dream. If you're someone who loves photography, this is the golden hour—quite literally!
The detailing on the tomb is incredible. The arches, lattice windows, and dome demand your attention, but it’s the sense of peace that stays with you. Amid the bustling chaos of Delhi, this place is a haven of silence and reflection. I sat on one of the shaded benches just watching the light change on the stone, and it felt like time had slowed down.
Best time to visit? October to March. The weather is pleasant, and the gardens are at their greenest. Try to go early in the morning or around sunset for the best experience.
Bonus tip: It’s about a 15-minute drive from India Gate and easily reachable by metro (JLN Stadium or Jor Bagh stations). Don't forget to also explore the nearby Isa Khan’s Tomb—a hidden gem right at the entrance.
If you're in Delhi, skip the malls for a day and walk into history. You won’t regret it.

Echoes of History in Spring: Strolling Through Nanjing’s Presidential Palace
#springwander
Spring in Nanjing carries a soft grace, and there’s no better place to feel its quiet strength than the Nanjing Presidential Palace. As the trees sway gently and the first blossoms bloom across the courtyard, this historic complex invites you to walk not just through space—but through time.
Once the political heart of modern China, the Presidential Palace is a striking blend of traditional Chinese architecture and subtle Western influence. In spring, red lanterns line the corridors, casting a festive warmth beneath the towering red pillars. The halls hum with history, yet the surrounding gardens, full of fresh buds and fluttering petals, bring a fresh breath of life into the space.
Visitors wander thoughtfully beneath the arched gateways and through tree-lined paths, pausing to read inscriptions or admire the classical symmetry of the buildings. The chirping of birds and the rustle of spring leaves add an almost meditative backdrop to the experience. You feel both grounded in history and lifted by the vitality of the season.
Every corner of the palace complex tells a story — from Sun Yat-sen’s vision of a new republic to the echoes of reform and change that followed. Yet in spring, those stories feel softer, more poetic, carried on the breeze that slips through the bamboo groves and magnolia trees.
If you’re visiting Nanjing in spring, this is where the past breathes, and the season sings.

Ancient Greece in Sicily 🇮🇹
#2024wish
I just spent a very fascinating day visiting the Temple and Theatre of Segesta, it's like finding old treasures in the middle of Sicily! The €12 cost of getting in seemed fair, because I got a time-traveling adventure.
The Segesta Temple is an amazing view against the hills. Its big Doric columns and quiet spot make it a beautiful poem to old Greek buildings. Going to the temple, you get amazing views that go as far as your eyes can see. 🏞️✨
The close-by Theatre of Segesta is an amazing piece of old engineering. Cut into the hill, it provides a great mixture of nature and human work. You can nearly hear performances from long ago in the old chairs. 🎭🏰
After learning about the history, go for a walk in the archaeological area. The quiet area and the colorful wildflowers make a calm place. It's like entering a picture. 🌸🚶♂️
To see something different, visit the old town of Calatafimi-Segesta nearby. The small roads, cute squares and local restaurants make your Sicilian trip more fun. 🍝🏰
If you want more old treasures, the Greek city of Selinunte is just a little drive away. The big old ruins with well-kept temples in Sicily are another part of its long history. 🏛️🚗
Segesta, you've taken me to a different time period - an Italian daydream in Sicily! #SegestaTemple #AncientTheatreMagic #SicilianExploration #TravelThroughTime

The inner circle of Chengqilou is where the heart of the Tulou truly beats. 🏯❤️ Surrounded by the towering outer walls, this central space once served as a shared area for cooking, ceremonies, and daily life. You’ll find an ancestral hall at the very core—a sacred place where generations gathered. 🌿🔥 Standing there, you feel the deep connection between family, culture, and community. Every wooden beam and stone floor echoes centuries of Hakka heritage. It’s not just architecture—it’s a living story.

I SPENT MY HALLOWEEN LIKE THIS?
This Halloween, I took the plane and jet off to Reykjavik, Iceland - the city of fire and ice. In the heart of Reykjavik, Hallgrímskirkja stands as a poetic testament to Iceland's spirit. Conceived by architect Guðjón Samúelsson and completed in 1986, its design echoes the country's basalt columns and rugged landscapes. The church is a tribute to the famed Icelandic poet, Hallgrímur Pétursson, capturing the essence of his verses in its towering silhouette. As I explored its cavernous interior and ascended the tower, I felt the weight of history and culture embracing me.
Hallgrímskirkja isn't just a structure; it's a living chapter in Iceland's narrative, a timeless connection between the past and the present. Standing beneath its spire, I became a part of that story. How did you spend your Halloween? #HallgrímskirkjaHistory #IcelandicHeritage #ArchitecturalTales #ReykjavikAdventures #TravelThroughTime
