🇳🇿Mt. Eden: where the Volcano Sleeps🌋
Mt. Eden, or Maungawhau in Māori, is the highest natural point in Auckland, New Zealand, standing at 196 meters (643 feet) above sea level. It's an ancient dormant volcano that last erupted over 15,000 years ago, and today it offers visitors a unique combination of natural beauty, panoramic views, and deep cultural significance.
From the top, you get 360° panoramic views of Auckland. The crater, known as Te Ipu-a-Mataaho, is about 50 meters deep and considered sacred in Māori tradition. Climbing into the crater is discouraged out of respect for its cultural importance.
📌 Visitor Tips
- Entry is 🆓
- Best times to visit: Early morning or sunset for stunning views and softer light🌄
- 📸 Great for photography, especially panoramic shots of the city
🚗 Car is restricted to access the summit now to preserve the site’s cultural significance.
🅿️ Waze “friend & whau cafe” which is next to Te Ipu Korero o Maungawhau / Maungawhau Visitor Experience Centre for parking space. It took around 5mins to reach the Mt.Eden boardwalk.

🌅 Chasing Fire in the Sky – Mount Bromo’s Legendary Sunrise
Not every moment in travel is glamorous — and Mount Bromo is no exception. Our day started with a freezing wake-up call at 2:30 AM, scrambling into a jeep in total darkness. The roads were bumpy, traffic was wild, and our teeth chattered the entire way up. At the viewpoint, we jostled for a spot among crowds, sipping instant coffee from a warung stall to stay warm. And yet, when the sun peeked over the horizon, every inconvenience melted away. This is the reality of chasing bucket-list views: it’s cold, crowded, chaotic — and completely worth it. If you go, pack warm clothes, gloves, a scarf for the dust, and your patience. The road to Bromo isn’t smooth, but that’s what makes the reward so satisfying.

Rising with the Earth: Sunrise at Mount Batur 🌅
#earthdayjourney #nature #sunrisespot #jeepride #volcanoviews #bali #naturalwonders
Second trip up to Mount Batur, simply because the first time round.... it just wasn't enough. For my second trip up, I opted for a jeep journey up.
Once again, it offers a breathtaking view of the natural world at its finest. As the jeep climbed the rugged terrain, the sky gradually began to lighten, and the silhouette of the majestic volcano emerged from the darkness. Once we reached the summit, the first rays of sunlight broke over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the surrounding landscape. The sight of the sun rising over the clouds, illuminating the lake and surrounding mountains, was nothing short of magical.
Mount Batur’s volcanic activity reminds us of the Earth’s dynamic nature—its ability to create, destroy, and regenerate. Yet, while nature is resilient, it is also fragile, and human activity often disrupts these natural processes.
If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, Mount Batur is a must-visit destination and it’s truly unlike any other. The journey to the summit, whether you're trekking at sunrise or taking a jeep ride up, offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I might just come again in the near future.... ❣️
