Kotor – A Timeless Gem on Montenegro’s Adriatic Coast
#cityplaybook
#localguides #historicallandmarks #postandearn
Kotor wasn’t just a stop on my trip—it became one of the most enchanting places I’ve ever experienced. Nestled between dramatic limestone cliffs and the sparkling Bay of Kotor, this medieval town feels like a storybook brought to life.
Walking through the Old Town of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was like stepping into a living museum. Narrow cobbled alleys twist through stone buildings, opening unexpectedly into charming squares filled with cafés, churches, and the echo of local life. The scent of the sea mixes with fresh pastries, and the warm Adriatic sun bathes the orange rooftops in golden light.
The highlight of my visit? Climbing the Kotor Fortress (San Giovanni Castle)—a steep but rewarding hike of over 1,300 steps. At the summit, the view of the fjord-like bay stretching out to the Adriatic Sea left me breathless (and not just from the climb!). It was the perfect place to pause and take in the timeless beauty of the landscape.
Evenings in Kotor are magical. The town glows with soft lights, music floats from hidden wine bars, and the calm waters reflect the surrounding mountains like a mirror. I joined a local boat tour at sunset, gliding around the bay toward Our Lady of the Rocks, a man-made island steeped in legend.
Best Time to Visit:
May to June and September are ideal for warm weather, fewer crowds, and vibrant local festivals.
Travel Tips:
Wear sturdy shoes for the fortress climb.
Try local dishes like Njeguški pršut (smoked ham) and Kotor-style risotto.
Stay overnight—day-trippers miss the calm, romantic atmosphere after sunset.
Location: Kotor, Montenegro

Beach holiday in Riccione 🇮🇹
#beachcheck
A beach holiday in Riccione was everything I hoped for and more! 🌞 Known as one of the best seaside towns on Italy's Adriatic coast, Riccione is full of life, with its wide sandy beaches, warm waters, and lively atmosphere. I spent most of my days soaking up the sun on the beach, where renting a sunbed and umbrella cost me around €20 for the day – a small price for the comfort and convenience. 🏖️ The beach was clean, and the water was perfect for swimming, not too deep, making it ideal for families with kids as well.
Riccione isn’t just about sunbathing, though. The promenade is bustling with shops, cafes, and gelato stands, perfect for cooling off with a treat. 🍦 In the evenings, Viale Ceccarini, the main shopping street, comes alive with boutiques, bars, and restaurants serving delicious Italian cuisine. I had some of the best seafood pasta of my life here, paired with a local wine while people-watching. 🍝 For those looking for a bit more excitement, the nearby Aquafan water park is a must-visit and just a short bus ride away.
Another highlight was exploring the charming nearby towns of Rimini and Cattolica, both easily accessible by bike or public transport. 🚴♂️ The whole area offers a great mix of relaxation and activities, making Riccione a perfect holiday spot for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike. #trip #RiccioneBeach #ItalianSummer #AdriaticEscape #SunAndSea #BeachVibes
