Wat Kang is one of seven sacred in Vang Vieng city, Laos. This temple is a Budhis Temple. Located in the north side of city center Vang Vieng, makes Wat Kang to be the place that should to visit in Vang Vieng. The main building of Wat Kang was constructed in 1938, and when it was founded is unknown. Why should visit Wat Kang: Because Vang Vieng is a small town that has beautiful nature that gives peaceful vibes to people that live or visit there. And if you visit Wat Kang Temple you can feel the peacefulness of the town more deep. That’s why for me the best time to visit temple in small town is in the morning before starting the day. Specially this temple has good exposure to sunlight in the morning. By visiting this temple in the morning will make your morning more meaningful. About the architecture: When you enter the temple from the gate, you will see the sitting big Budha Statue. There is also a reclining Budha Statue in Wat Kang. In the front of Reclining Budha, you can find four smaller Budha Statues. Wat Kang has very well and beautiful decorations by painting. You can see mixed green, red and gold colors decorated in the painting. And what makes Wat Kang more beautiful, in the back area you can find small building decorated very beautiful with white, green and gold color and with mountains background. you have to visit. Located in Vang Vieng, Laos, about 10 km from the city center. The name of this place is Phapoungkham cave and viewpoint. What is special of this view point: The westernmost location among the other viewpoints, which is very good location for sunset. What you need to know before you go to Phapoungkham cave and viewpoint: Half of the way to this view point is rocky, so make sure you fit enough to go up there. Bring water with you and wear shoes, which is will help you more easily to climb up. The path is very clear, there are some part that made with wooden stairs that you have to be careful with while stepping through. The path will separated to be two ways nearly the tops of the hills and one way going to the airplane view point and another one going to pegasus view point. And that time, I chose the airplane view point, and didn’t have enough time to go to the pegasus view point. Vieng, if you’re a traveler and you will visit Vang Vieng, Laos. I have recommendations of place to stay for you. Vang Vieng is a small city a bit to the north and 2 hours far from Vientiane. I took the van to get to Vang Vieng from Vientiane, it cost 150.000 KIP. There is one hostel in Vang Vieng that has beautiful pool with the view of river and mountains. You can just walk to find this hostel from where the van stops, it’s only takes 5 minutes. This hostel has big yard, living rooms, parking for motorbikes, and concert stage in the back yard. There is big dining area by the pool. The breakfast in this hostel also good, they have some options you can choose which is omelet with bread, noodles soup with egg, banana pancake, scrambled eggs with bread, coffee, tea, fruits and some others. If you visit Vang Vieng, Laos, you should discover this night market. Located in the middle of the city make it easy to find. This night market offers traditional vibes of Laos, with a lot of variation of the things that the locals sell. This night market open around 5 PM until 22 PM. You can find many traditional Laos souvenirs that usually hand made by the locals. This local handmade souvenirs made the market feel more authentic. There are some stand of local food, snacks and drinks. There is one stand that sell heavy meal for dinner that have prices more cheap than the restaurant and cafe around, which is price is 40.000 kip for fried rice, omelette rice, fried noodles, and 50.000 kip for curries and rice. Besides of this stand, you can find barbecue stand that sell many variants of barbecue meat, which is super delicious with Laos local seasoning sauce. Walking is the best option to get to this night market, but you also can take tuk tuk ride that offered in every corner in Vang Vieng.
