I stayed at a youth hostel (YH) in Nuremberg, southern Germany! This YH has a unique feature: it was renovated from a former castle. For that reason, both the exterior and interior of the building are impressive and stately. However, it doesn't feel old-fashioned, it has a modern atmosphere, and the facilities are sufficient, so it was a comfortable facility overall. The rooms are basically gender-segregated shared dormitories, I stayed in a room for four people. There was a shower and a toilet in the room. Breakfast was a buffet, but there was a wide selection of organic products, vegan and vegetarian menus were also available, and they were clearly labeled. I was surprised at the thoughtfulness of the hostel, which included soy milk yogurt, ham made from gelatin and vegetables, and gluten-free bread. The selection of coffee and tea was also excellent, and you could have coffee brewed in a machine. There was also a local youth group staying there that day, so it was very lively. There was a playroom for children, but it wasn't filled with toys, but with games that required intelligence, and there was a place where children could quietly enjoy themselves by themselves. Sheets and towels are left in the room (on the bed), and each person returns them to the linen room when they check out. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's a very cozy youth hostel. Heidelberg is a city located about an hour and a half by train from Frankfurt, which has an international airport. It is a beautiful city with an old castle and the oldest university. Among the best spots for great views are the combination of Heidelberg Castle and the Alte Brücke Bridge over the Neckar River. Both Heidelberg Castle and the Alte Brücke Bridge are made of brown bricks, and their solid appearance is cool 🤍 You can really feel as if you have traveled back in time to medieval Europe. The Alte Brücke Bridge was also a beautiful bridge that reminded me of the world of Alice in Wonderland ☺️ Heidelberg Castle is a 15-minute bus ride from the central station, and then about an hour's walk away. I went on a trip to Germany over the New Year holidays, so I'd like to introduce my plan for this trip. Day 1: 7:00 AM Arrived at Munich Airport ✈️ I heard that the Christmas market at the airport opens from 11:00, so I decided to kill time until then. There were sales at the supermarket and pharmacy at the airport, so I bought some souvenirs there! 11:00-12:00 Christmas Market It was small, so I was able to finish looking around in an hour😊 From 1:00 PM, I took a train towards the city and visited the Munich Residenz, Alte Pinakothek, and Marienplatz. (It took quite a while to see the Residenz, and the Pinakothek closed just in time💦) From 6:00 PM, took a break at Cafe Luitpold → returned to the hotel Day 2: 7:00 AM-6:00 PM I took an optional tour with a Japanese guide to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Linderhof Castle, and Wieskirche! This time I was traveling alone, but there were a few other people with me, so we became friends and went around together💕 It's difficult to get to these three places on your own because of the poor transportation, so I recommend using a tour!! ! [Day 3] 7:00-9:00 Travel by train to Salzburg 9:00-Arrive in Salzburg Walk through Mirabell Gardens and from Salzburg Central Station towards Mozart's house. The worship service had just started, so I listened to it for a bit. 18:00~ Stopped by the Christmas market one last time, bought some mulled wine and bread to eat ✨ Go straight to Munich. [Day 4] My flight was at 12 o'clock, so I went straight to the airport in the morning and bought the souvenirs I had left over while I was waiting!
