🥩 Generous Portions & Outstanding Flavours at Monaco Dining, SouthKey JB
We had a wonderful dinner at Monaco Dining Restaurant in SouthKey Mozek and were thoroughly impressed with both the food and the thoughtful service. It’s a great spot if you’re craving quality Western fare with a touch of class.
We ordered the beef Wellington, which came out beautifully crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside—easily big enough to be shared between two. The duck confit was rich and flavourful, and the escargot hit all the right garlicky, buttery notes.
For the kids, we ordered mushroom soup, and the staff was kind enough to help divide two portions into three bowls without us even asking—such a thoughtful gesture that really made us feel welcome.
Every dish was well-executed with generous portions and excellent flavours. The atmosphere was cozy yet refined, making it perfect for a relaxed evening out.
Definitely a place we’ll return to the next time we’re in JB.

🥩 Steakhouse 88 Motobu: Come for the Buffet, Not Just the Beef
We decided to try out Steakhouse 88 in Motobu during our Okinawa trip, drawn in by its reputation and convenient location. The restaurant is easy to find, and there’s ample parking, which is always a plus when traveling as a family.
We ordered their steak sets, and while the beef was decent, it wasn’t anything to rave about—just average and didn’t quite meet the expectations we had from a place known for steaks. However, what really made our visit enjoyable was the buffet line that came with our meal.
The buffet had a great variety of side dishes, salads, and local flavors. Everyone in the family found something they liked, and it felt like the buffet was the real star of the experience. The kids loved the curry rice and fried items, while we enjoyed the pickled vegetables and fresh salad options. It was a satisfying addition that made the meal feel more complete and definitely worth the visit.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the dining environment was relaxed and welcoming, perfect for families. While the steak may not have wowed us, the overall experience—especially the buffet—made it a pleasant stop during our trip.

🏯 Hekisuien – Scenic Dining Between History and Nature in Okayama
We stumbled upon Hekisuien while walking between Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The location is perfect – nestled along the Asahi River, the restaurant offers unobstructed views of the castle, making the entire dining experience feel peaceful and elegant.
The food didn’t disappoint either. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pasta, which was well-cooked and flavorful. A standout dish for me was the fried mochi – crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside, it had a comforting texture and taste that left an impression.
The combination of scenic views, convenient location, and solid food offerings makes Hekisuien a fantastic stop whether you’re heading to the gardens or finishing up your castle visit.

🧀 Crispy Chicken Meets Gooey Cheese at K Fry Urban Korean (Holiday Villa)
We decided to try K Fry Urban Korean at Holiday Villa after seeing the consistently high ratings—and it absolutely lived up to the hype.
The fried chicken was spot-on: crispy, golden skin and juicy, tender meat inside. What really stood out was the cheese “performance”—our server cooked and stretched the gooey cheese right in front of us, then wrapped it around the chicken pieces. The kids were completely entertained by the process, and of course, loved eating it too.
We also ordered a side of chicken wings, which turned out just as flavorful and satisfying. Each bite packed a punch without being overly greasy.
It’s not just a meal here—it’s a bit of a show, and a very tasty one at that. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area and craving some indulgent Korean comfort food.
