As a Singaporean, chicken rice is in our DNA—we’re spoiled with amazing options back home, so I’ll admit, it’s hard to impress us. Still, I gave Go Ang Pratunam Hainanese Chicken Rice 2 in Bangkok a fair try, and here’s my take. To be fair, I’d rate this as “chicken rice outside of Singapore.” The fried chicken was definitely the star—crispy, flavourful, and satisfying. The accompanying soup was also surprisingly good, rich and comforting, adding a nice touch to the meal. But the poached chicken was unfortunately a letdown. It was overcooked, and as a result, lacked the tenderness and juiciness that make a good Hainanese chicken shine. The rice was decent but nothing standout. The price was also on the high side for Thailand standards, though the portion (we ordered half a chicken) was generous enough to share. Would I eat here again? Maybe, for the fried chicken and soup. After soaking in the beautiful views and spiritual calm of Udo Shrine, our family made our way to Joyfull in Nichinan for a much-needed late lunch. It turned out to be the perfect spot to unwind and refuel. We all ended up ordering cheese Hamburg steak sets, each with a little twist—some with beef cubes on the side, and others paired with crispy croquettes. The Hamburg was juicy and full of flavor, with gooey melted cheese that made each bite extra satisfying. Although it can't be said to be the best Taiwanese beef noodles in Hong Kong, it's good value for money and the taste is average for the same dishes in the same area. 🍛Chicken chop rice Seeing this dish full of dishes makes me nostalgic for the chicken chop rice at the old house in Tai Kok Tsui when it first opened. It is also full of dishes with large pieces of fried chicken. Unfortunately, the standard cannot be maintained. "Black Bear Driving Guide 🐻🪭Zhuhai" I probably haven't been back to the mainland for 5-6 years. Recently, Mr. Black Bear applied to drive on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, so we went back to explore the road🥸 After work on Friday, drive about an hour to Zhuhai. There was a time when I felt like a big countryman out of town. We studied for a while, how to enter the meter when parking on the roadside 😱😱 It turns out that there is nothing to do, when leaving use WeChat to pay for parking 🫣 For my first meal, I chose to eat authentic Zhuhai cuisine near the Xiangzhou area. I sincerely recommend the Sun and Sea (Beishan Branch). The spacious outdoor dining area blended with ancient trees particularly attracted me! Then go up to the second floor with private rooms, designed with some Japanese style. Tea-scented duck, a must-try recommended online, did not disappoint us! The duck meat is tender, sweet and a little sweet, although the tea flavor is not obvious, but there are fried tea leaves to accompany the plate, and a fire placed under the plate to warm the juice, slowly eating will not be cold and solidified. Bonus points🫶🏻 Grilled tofu, made up of vegetarian tofu and white tofu, then fried to thicken. Tender and beautiful, it feels like a carefully designed dish☺️ Fresh peppercorn ancient steamed herring, slightly inferior to a dish, the fish meat mud taste is very heavy plus a little fishy smell when frozen, pepper can not cover 🤡 After dinner rest for a while, the next trip is to go to the spa☺️ The environment in the store is quite good, but the massage master really too much talk, do not like so not much introduction! The convention and exhibition executive apartment I stayed at tonight was a surprise, around hkd300 with a one-bedroom and terrace room type. There is also a fruit tray, free parking. I recently dined at this fantastic Turkish restaurant right opposite Harrods in central London, and it exceeded all my expectations.
