Dongguan 🌿Liuhua Park🌳 (Liuhua Tower🏯) One-day Tour🧳
Liuhua Park 🌳 is located in the Xiakou Community 🏘️ (formerly Xiakou Village) of Dongcheng Street 🏙️ (formerly known as "Fucheng") in Dongguan's new urban area. According to the Dongguan Municipal Government, the park began to be planned in 1999 and was officially opened to the public in 2001. The main attractions include Liuhua Tower 🏯, the "National Soul" Memorial Scenic Area, Liuhua Temple ☸️, etc.
Among them, the Liuhua Tower 🏯 is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial and municipal levels in Guangdong Province. It is located on Tongling Mountain to the west of the park⛰️, close to Dongjiang River 💦, and has a panoramic view of Dongguan City 🏙️, Dongjiang River 💦, Dongcheng 🏙️ Xiakou Community 🏘️, Shijie Town 🪨 and Shilong Town 🏘️ high-rise buildings.
Liuhua Tower🏯 was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620 AD), and has a history of more than 400 years. At that time, Yuan Changzuo from Chashan, Dongguan and Yuan Yingwen from Wentang proposed to build this Feng Shui tower🏯 to suppress the floods in Dongjiang River💦. Next to the tower was the hometown of Xiong Fei, a hero who fought against the Yuan Dynasty in the late Southern Song Dynasty - Liuhua Village🏘️, so it was named Liuhua Tower🏯, and Liuhua Park🌳 was also named after it. The tower is seven stories high and octagonal in shape, 30 meters high. It has a red stone foundation and is built with blue bricks and gray sand. It was repaired three times in 1934, 1982 and 1999.
The "National Soul" Memorial Scenic Area consists of three parts: the Anti-Japanese Memorial Pavilion ⚔️🇯🇵, a large relief, and the Heroes Square 🦸. It mainly commemorates the heroic deeds of resisting foreign invasions, such as the general who fought against the Yuan Dynasty in the late Southern Song Dynasty ~ Xiong Fei 🦸 (from Liuhua Village, Dongcheng, Dongguan), the general who fought against the Later Jin Dynasty (the predecessor of the Qing Dynasty) in the late Ming Dynasty ~ Yuan Chonghuan 🦸 (from Shuinan Village, Shijie Town, Dongguan), and the 1938 Liuhua Anti-Japanese War ⚔️🇯🇵.
From October to November 1938, the Liuwu Self-Defense Force of Shijie, the anti-Japanese armed forces led by the Chinese Communist Party, the "Dongguan Anti-Japanese Model Young Men's Team" and the "Standing Young Men's Team" fought for more than 20 days in the surrounding areas of Liuhua Tower, including Xiakou Community of Dongcheng (where Liuhua Park and Liuhua Tower are located), Jingshan Village of Chashan Town, Xihu Village of Shilong Town, and Aoshitang Community of Dongcheng, and repelled the Japanese army.
Liuhua Temple ☸️ is located at the foot of Tongling ⛰️ Mountain. Its predecessor was the Lingnan Garden-Huifang Garden. Later, the famous monk from Nanyue-Shi Zidu stayed here and became the abbot, so it was renamed.
Since it takes time to go up and down the hill and enjoy the scenery, I strongly recommend reserving 2-3 hours to visit the Liuhua Park 🌳 and Liuhua Tower 🏯.
In addition, there are bus stops at Liuhua Park (west gate of the park, near Liuhua Temple☸️) and Liuhua Metro Bus Stop (purple archway at south gate of the park⛩️), and Liuhua Park Station on Dongguan Metro Line 2, both of which can reach Liuhua Park and Liuhua Tower🏯.
