Moments at the Twelve Apostles Beach | The instant of approaching the majestic rocks.

A Magical Journey of Dialogue with Nature on the Great Ocean Road and the Twelve Apostles
From the moment I set foot on the Great Ocean Road, I was utterly captivated by its charm! This legendary highway winding along the southern coast of Victoria, Australia, feels like a ribbon leading to nature's wonders. The wooden sign reading "Great Ocean Road" stands amidst lush greenery and damp roads, with the post-rain sea breeze bringing a refreshing scent that instantly ignites my adventurous spirit! Along the way, the coastline and forests intertwine, and you can occasionally hear the rhythmic crashing of waves against the rocks, as if whispering: more surprises lie ahead!
🏞️ The Twelve Apostles: Nature's Masterpiece
Upon reaching the Twelve Apostles viewing platform, the slightly overcast sky added a mysterious veil to the seascape. Standing at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the eight towering limestone stacks rising from the wild ocean (originally twelve, now eight due to erosion), my heart seemed to rise and fall with the waves! These natural sculptures, carved by waves and time, were once humorously called "The Sow and Piglets" before being renamed to honor the Christian Twelve Apostles—a name with its own intriguing backstory. When sunlight occasionally pierces through the clouds, the stacks shimmer with golden and brown hues, and when shrouded in mist, they resemble a sea temple, leaving one breathless!
🎥 Travel Tips
• Best Time to Visit: Early morning or sunset for soft lighting and dreamy photos.
• Winter Advice: Bring rain gear; the Twelve Apostles in the rain exude poetic charm!
• Must-Do: View from different lookout points to capture the dynamic beauty of the stacks and waves.
This journey is not just a visual feast but also a soulful dialogue with nature. With the sea breeze brushing your face, seagulls calling, and the Twelve Apostles narrating stories of millions of years, are you ready to explore this magical land? 📸🌿

An Unforgettable Journey on the Great Ocean Road
#australiaroadtrip
I joined a solo tour of the Great Ocean Road, and it turned out to be one of the most incredible experiences of my trip to Australia!
From the moment we left Melbourne, I was amazed by the breathtaking scenery. The entire route is packed with stunning coastal views, lush forests, and iconic rock formations like the Twelve Apostles. Every stop felt like a postcard!
One of the best parts was meeting people from all over the world. Everyone on the tour was friendly, and we bonded over the shared excitement of discovering these spectacular sights. By the end of the day, I had made new friends and unforgettable memories. Whether you’re traveling solo or with company, this tour is a must-do!
Why I recommend the Great Ocean Road:
Spectacular landscapes – Endless breathtaking coastal views and natural wonders.
Great way to meet people – Perfect for solo travelers looking to connect with others.

3D2N in Victoria: Great Ocean Road 🌊
I spent 3D2N driving from Melbourne to 📍Great Ocean Road, before returning to Melbourne. The coastal views are one of the best in the world. Cool weather in summer (December) at around 17 degrees celcius in the day and 14 degrees celcius at night, so bring along your jackets all year round 🧥.
📍Apollo Bay
Be sure to spend the night at Apollo bay and visit other attractions around the area and try the fresh oysters 🦪 and fish and chips 🐟 along the coasts! The forests around the area are refreshing and beautiful as well, with little elevation changes.
📍12 Apostles
Spend the 2nd day driving from Apollo Bay to visit the 12 Apostles, to visit magnificent headland and bays with prominent stacks, formed by corrosion. It is exactly as pictured in geography textbooks.
You can try activities such as surfing 🌊🏄 if you have the time along the beautiful coastlines, and drive or climb to various viewpoints to oversee the picturesque mountains and sea.

Great Ocean Road: The Grotto🇦🇺
[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞]
How about The Grotto for this trip?🇦🇺✈️
The Grotto, located on the Great Ocean Road, is a place that shows off a truly wonderful natural landscape!!
This place is a unique landscape where the sea and land meet, with beautiful rock formations and clear water. It looks like a small cave, and the waves flowing through it are spectacular~🌊
The surrounding cliffs, the blue sea, and the view from inside the Grotto were really impressive. Especially when the weather was clear, the sunlight sparkling and reflecting the scenery was beautiful like a painting.😄
The road to get there was also very beautiful, and the drive along the sea was a truly wonderful experience. There was also a trekking course, so I could enjoy various nature while walking, and I stopped by the Grotto for a while to listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy my leisure time. It was a truly memorable travel destination!!🫠

Great Ocean Road: The majestic 12 Apostles🇦🇺
[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞]
How about the Great Ocean Road 12 Apostles for this Melbourne tour?🇦🇺✈️
When I arrived at the lookout, the first thing that caught my eye were the huge limestone pillars towering over the blue waters of the Southern Ocean. I heard that these rocks were carved and sculpted by the wind and waves over a long period of time to create their unique appearance.⛰️
Seeing this in person made me realize that it was a result of the power of nature and time!!😄
The rocks and the cliffs felt like a huge work of nature. The sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs was magnificent, and it felt like the sound filled the surrounding air. Also, the surface of the rocks revealed delicate colors and textures under the sunlight, showing how intricate and beautiful nature is.🌊
While standing here and looking at the surrounding scenery, I felt like all the minor worries I felt in my daily life disappeared in an instant. It was as if nature had opened up a wider field of vision for me, and made me feel the vastness of this world and the flow of time!!😆
On the way back, the magnificent appearance of the 12 Apostles kept coming to my mind, and that memory became an important moment that made me love and respect nature more~🫠
Must visit when traveling to Melbourne!!

The start of the Great Ocean Road and Apollo Bay🇦🇺
[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞]
How about Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road for this Melbourne tour?🇦🇺✈️
I visited Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road. The scenery of the blue ocean and golden sand beach was truly spectacular as I drove along the coastline. I stopped here and there to take pictures and felt the local charm while looking around the small towns~😄
When I arrived at Apollo Bay, I really liked the quiet and peaceful atmosphere!!🏖 I walked along the beach, listened to the sound of the ocean, and enjoyed warm coffee and fresh seafood dishes at a local cafe. The clean ocean view was an unforgettable scene. It was a travel destination where nature and towns were in harmony, and I definitely wanted to go again!!🫠

Coastal Bliss: A 2-Day Great Ocean Road Escape to Paradise
Day 1: Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road
Our adventure began bright and early with breakfast at LUNE Croissant in Melbourne. Their buttery, flaky pastries were the perfect start to a road trip. With a rented car and spirits high, we set off towards the Great Ocean Road.
Stop 1: Geelong
Our first stop was Geelong, where we stretched our legs along the waterfront. The vibrant art installations and the peaceful marina set a relaxed tone for the journey ahead.
Stop 2: Split Point Lighthouse (小紅帽燈塔)
The iconic lighthouse at Aireys Inlet was a charming sight. Surrounded by stunning coastal views, it made for some postcard-worthy photos. The short walk around the area was refreshing, with the salty breeze keeping us energized.
Stop 3: Apollo Bay for Early Dinner
We arrived in Apollo Bay just in time for an early dinner at the Fishermen’s Co-op. Fresh seafood, especially the fish and chips, was a highlight, paired perfectly with the sound of waves nearby.
Stop 4: Twelve Apostles for Sunset
We rushed to the Twelve Apostles to catch the sunset, and it was absolutely worth it. Watching the golden light illuminate the dramatic limestone stacks was a breathtaking experience—one that will stay etched in my memory forever.
Night Stay: Seafarers Getaway
We ended the day at Seafarers Getaway, nestled along the coastline. The view from the room was spectacular, with the sound of waves lulling us to sleep. It was the perfect retreat after a day of exploration.
Day 2: Morning Exploration and the Drive Back
Stop 1: Redwoods Forest (紅樹林)
After checking out, we visited the Redwoods Forest, a serene and magical spot filled with towering trees. The peaceful atmosphere made it feel like we had stepped into another world.
Stop 2: Brighton Bathing Boxes
Before returning the car, we made a final stop at the Brighton Bathing Boxes. The colorful beach huts added a playful and vibrant touch to our journey. A leisurely walk along the beach was a perfect way to unwind.
Back to Melbourne
By late afternoon, we were back in Melbourne, returning the car and reflecting on two incredible days filled with coastal wonders, delicious food, and unforgettable memories.

Road trip in Australia, Great Ocean Road
Going to the Great Ocean Road, it would be a pity not to have any road trip photos, so I will post them here.
- Renting a European car in Australia is much cheaper than in Thailand, so let's test drive it. Actually, I booked a Benz but got a BM, which was good.
- Right-hand drive, drive on the left lane like in Thailand, not difficult to drive.
- Thai driver's license is valid, no need to get an international driver's license.
- The speed limit in the city is 60, on highways 80 and expressways 100. People here like to accelerate hard to cross red lights and brake to avoid exceeding the speed limit, which is funny.
- Traffic laws here are quite strict and everyone follows them well. Luckily, I had experience clearing checkpoints in Morocco. When I came here, I was very careful. It's been a month since I came back and I still haven't gotten a ticket. I hope I'll be safe.
- Warning signs are very reliable. They say there's construction ahead, but there really are people working there. They say to watch out for animals crossing the road, but there's a dead kangaroo on the side of the road.
- Fill up the gas yourself and pay for it yourself at a minimart. First time filling up, I was a bit embarrassed because the queue was very long, but I still didn't forget to take a picture.
- There are both free and paid parking spaces (with a limited parking hours). You have to look at the signs and pay at the booth.
Finally, I don't love driving, even though I drive every day. End of review.

Driving the Great Ocean Road
Driving the Great Ocean Road feels like stepping into a postcard. The winding route hugs rugged cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the ocean crashing against the Twelve Apostles. The sea spray mists the air as you pass by lush rainforests, and koalas lazily perch in eucalyptus trees. Each turn reveals a new wonder—hidden coves, towering limestone stacks, and endless horizons. It's a journey where nature's beauty overwhelms, leaving you in awe of Australia's raw, untamed coast.

Great Ocean Road, Loch Ard Gorge
Here, there is an interesting history. It goes back to 1878. There was a large junk named Loch Ard sailing from England to Melbourne for more than three months. It crashed into Mutton Bird Island. In this area, almost everyone on the ship died. Only two teenage boys survived, a man named Tom Pearce and a woman named Eva Carmichael.
Therefore, there are 4 interesting points here. Three of them are on the cliffs:
1. Tom and Eva Lookout, two stone pillars named after the two surviving children.
2. The Razorback is a large, narrow cliff that juts out into the ocean. The overall view of this point is beautiful.
3. Mutton Bird Island Lookout, a viewpoint of Mutton Bird Island where the ship crashed and sank.
The other point is below, which is the main name of this place, Loch Ard Gorge. It is temporarily closed. You can only see from above.

Great Ocean Road, Bay of Martyrs
The Bay of Martyrs is part of the Bay of Islands, characterized by its bay and numerous oceanfront cliffs. The Bay of Martyrs features a beach area where visitors can walk down to the shore. It is a quiet and incredibly beautiful beach.
The term 'Martyr' means someone who suffers or sacrifices. This place is named the Bay of Martyrs due to a tragic story where many Aboriginal people were killed by European settlers who had recently arrived in Australia.
Twelve Apostles
The limestone pillars were formed by the erosion of the cliff by wind and ocean waves until they became caves. Then the ceiling of the cave collapsed, leaving only 9 large limestone pillars. Now there are only 8 left because one pillar collapsed in 2005 from the waves that eroded the rocks every 2 centimeters per year. So we should come visit here before it all collapses. This is serious because the waves here are very high, strong and scary.
Some people may wonder. Originally there were 9 pillars, so why did they name it 12? If we are to find out the real reason, it was named to make it sound cool and have a gimmick for tourism. The reason given is that the name came from the 12 disciples of Jesus who shared the Last Supper. Take that.
It used to be called Sow and Piglets or The Pinnacles. When it became more popular, it was named 12 Apostles specifically for tourism.
P.S. But the most beautiful viewpoint/photo spot that looks magnificent like something out of a sci-fi movie is Gibson Step, a walkway connecting the 12 Apostles for about 1.2 km. to take photos of the stone pillars from below (if you can't walk, you can drive). It's very beautiful, the most beautiful in the trip, 100% natural, unadorned. But you can't go down all the time, you have to watch the high and low tides. It's a blessing to be able to go down. This photo is only 5/10 from the real thing you see.

Princetown Wetlands Boardwalk
I tried to take a picture that didn't look like I was at Saphan Thung Namui/Ban Na Ton Chan, but the weather was quite difficult to adjust the lighting because there were a lot of clouds. But the real thing was beautiful beyond words. The wooden bridge stretched into a lowland area with grass growing almost on both sides, stretching to the Gellibrand River. It was a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere that was beyond expectations and beyond the pictures. We didn't go all the way and almost didn't stop here because the flood closed the road, so we had to go back another way. If we didn't come, it would be a shame because the real thing was much better than the pictures. Nature lovers can't miss it, a must go!

Why is the Great Ocean Road on many people's self-driving bucket list?📝
It's all because of the coastal section🌊 There are many natural landscapes and attractions along the way,
and surrounding cities, so you can stay nearby.
It can be said to be a very well-developed driving section! 🚗
You can also join the Great Ocean Road one-day tour without driving yourself and see the magnificent scenery of nature!
On the Great Ocean Road you will see various rocks that have been eroded by wind and sea water over the years.
Years of erosion have formed many caves, arches, and rocks of different shapes.

💕 stunning nature at Twelve Apostles
#valentinescape
One of the highlights along the Great Ocean Road was the Twelve Apostles and is recommended as a must-do experience. We were won over by the truly breathtaking view of the Twelve Apostles. From different lookout points, we were treated with a different stunning vista of the limestone stacks rising out of the ocean. We also learned about the history of the area, including the early settlers and shipwrecks that occurred along the coast.
Indeed, it is a nature spot for anyone to see how these limestone stacks evolved over thousands of years through erosion and continue to be shaped by the ocean. Maybe when we visit again next time, we will have another different view of the Twelve Apostles.

Part 2 of the great ocean road post belongs to the beautiful beaches along the way! many of these beaches are left untouched and preserved, this makes for beautiful photos.

Up close and personal with Lamas
Australia is well known for the many animals you will see while driving on a road trip like sheep's, goats, cows and my favourite, LAMAS!
We were staying at seafarrers, a resort overlooking the beautiful ocean and we saw Lamas there were owned by the owner of the resort. Of course we had to go up to them and feed them.
They were honestly so adorable seeing them chowing down on the pallets. If you are an animal lover, I reckon you head down to Australia!
