🇸🇬 Plants📍Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum
The herbarium at Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is an extensive collection of preserved plant specimens, mainly from Southeast Asia, including Singapore.
🌟 One of the highlights of the museum is the Changi Tree Slice (Sindora wallichii). This tree was once one of the tallest and most iconic trees in Singapore, standing at around 76 meters (250 feet). It was located near the Changi area, which it was named after.
🌟The life-sized model of the Titan Arum, or "corpse flower," showcases one of the largest flowers in the world. The exhibit educates visitors about the plant's unique pollination strategy and its rarity.
🌟The Rafflesia model represents the world's largest flower, known for its parasitic nature and the strong odor it emits. This exhibit highlights the plant's fascinating biology and the conservation challenges it faces.

🇸🇬 Impressive Dinosaur Fossils 📍Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum
The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum in Singapore is home to several impressive dinosaur skeletons. The most famous of these are the three diplodocid sauropod skeletons nicknamed "Prince," "Apollonia," and "Twinky." These dinosaurs, from the species Diplodocus and Apatosaurus, are some of the largest creatures to have ever walked the earth, and they lived during the late Jurassic period, about 150 million years ago.
These skeletons are displayed in the museum's main gallery and are a central attraction. Each skeleton is around 80% complete, which is rare for dinosaur fossils. The museum acquired these skeletons from the United States, where they were found in Wyoming's Dana Quarry. The display is complemented by educational information about the dinosaurs, their environment, and the process of fossilization.

The Seodaemun Museum of Natural History in Seoul, South Korea, made my spring vacation memorable! 🌿 Located in the vibrant Seodaemun-gu district, the entrance fee was budget-friendly, around 2,000 KRW per person. As I explored the museum's fascinating exhibits, I was impressed by its interactive displays showcasing the rich biodiversity of Korea and the world. Afterward, I took a leisurely stroll through the nearby Seodaemun Independence Park, where I learned about Korea's struggle for independence and enjoyed the serene surroundings. Nearby attractions include the historic Seodaemun Prison History Hall, offering a glimpse into Korea's tumultuous past, and the lively Hongdae area, known for its vibrant nightlife and trendy cafes. Shanghai Natural History Museum
I absolutely love museums so when I finally got to visit the Natural History Museum, I was kind of excited!
Entry to the museum is 30RMB and you purchase tickets through WeChat at the entrance.
Once inside you can easily spend 2-3 hours just wandering. The museum exhibits are huge! The largest area is taken up by the animal models which ranges from dinosaurs to under water creatures. Some models are animatronic so be ready to hear the cry of an animal. There’s also a butterfly exhibit inside the main area, from the outside of this room you can see all of the colours and styles of different butterflies.
History of animal life is below, just keep following the main route and you’ll see every part.
The gift shop is pretty interesting, magnets and gems are available to buy as well as stuffed animal teddies.

Oxford Museum of Natural History – Where Dinosaurs, Fossils, and Wonder Come to Life! 🦋🌍
Step into the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, a treasure trove of scientific discovery and natural wonders. This stunning Victorian Gothic building is not just an architectural masterpiece but also home to some of the world’s most fascinating collections. From towering dinosaur skeletons to intricate insect displays, the museum offers a journey through the history of life on Earth.
The museum’s grand central court, with its soaring glass roof and intricate ironwork, is a sight to behold. Here, you’ll find the iconic T. rex and Iguanodon skeletons, which never fail to awe visitors of all ages. For biology enthusiasts, the Pitt Rivers Museum (accessible through the Natural History Museum) offers an incredible collection of anthropological artifacts, from shrunken heads to ancient tools.
Did you know? The museum was the site of the famous 1860 Oxford Evolution Debate, where Thomas Huxley defended Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution against Bishop Samuel Wilberforce. This historic event marked a turning point in the acceptance of evolutionary science. 🧬
The museum is also a hub for ongoing scientific research, making it a living, breathing institution. Whether you’re marveling at the Hope Entomology Collection (one of the largest insect collections in the world) or exploring the mineralogy gallery, there’s something for everyone.
📸 Pro Tip: Don’t miss the museum’s stunning architecture—bring your camera to capture the intricate details of the building’s design.

Francois Leguat Nature Reserve and Restaurant.
This place must be on your list if you are visiting Rodrigues. Be sure to check the times for the guided tours. Would recommend to bring a hat or umbrella and water because of the scorching sun. During the visit, you get to see the vegetation and different species of tortoises. There is also a walk through 'La Grande Caverne'. It's all very fascinating to experience natural history.
During the walk, one can also see the airport runway. It looks pretty, don't worry.
We went to the 10 30 guided visit and had lunch at the restaurant after. We did not book a table before hand and got lucky. But it is recommended to book a table in advance.
Try the 'salad' popsicle on your way out as dessert. It has all the tropical flavours (ananas and tamarin with chilli salt (du sel pima)).
The visit can get tiring as there is no canopy. There are quite a lot of stairs. You might also feel claustrophobic in the caves. Just be prepared and it's a nice experience. The guides were lovely and so polite!

The Fun Mu
The Fun Museum is like a replica of the Chongqing #naturalhistory museum, but with the inclusion of a game arcade. It's located inside the #chaotianmen Plaza on the first floor near to the KFC outlet. It's full name is Chongqing Natural History Museum Fun Museum, but it's important to know that it's not the actual museum that is found on 398 Jinhua Road, Beibei. This one is huge though, and makes you feel lucky to get a chance to experience dinner of the things at the actual museum. It has a variety of fun themes to see such as a Safari trail, a Noah's Ark boat with lots of stuffed toys to buy as gifts, and the Fun Zone, which hosts cool rides and games like VR and basketball 🏀.
Rating: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. It was a delight to stumble upon such an intriguing place.
Roar!!!
The natural history museum has lots of dinosaur fossil and specimen. The gemstone area is amazing too, there are gemstones that are over 500 carats, huge!

Beautiful Museum in Shanghai
I visited the Natural History Museum in Shanghai and it did not disappoint!
My friends and I spent a day at the museum and loved taking the day to learn about all sorts of cool animal facts and history of the world. The displays here are very well done. I especially enjoyed the safari room which included a show that made the entire exhibit transition from day to night. They also had an arctic themed section which was quite fascinating.
I highly recommend a visit here if you live in or are visiting Shanghai! :)

Day at the Museum
New York hosts many world class museums. Of course the Met is one of the most famous ones, but the American Museum of Natural history should not be overlooked. Located on the Upper West Side, the museum focuses on the natural history and organisms of the world.
I personally really enjoyed this museum as it was very interesting and neat to find real life models of a whale and dinosaur skeletons. Its a very informative museum that really gives you a perspective of our place in the world. The rich biodiversity of the world and the many organisms that we share it with us also highlighted. It also highlights the many cultural artifacts we as humans have come to pass down.
The museum is easily reachable by subway and is located on the other side of central park from the Met.
Overall a very interesting museum that highlights our natural world and the need to preserve it. It's a very cool museum and has a very 'museum' feel to it, as in it feels very grand and old school, but in a good one. Again, the price is a bit high but definitely worth it it; you'll feel like a kid again!
