If you’re planning a once-in-a-lifetime nature getaway in China, this Huanglong + Jiuzhaigou combo is hard to beat. Both sites are UNESCO World Heritage gems in Sichuan — and summer is a fantastic time to visit (if you prepare right!). ⸻ 📍Day 1: Huanglong Scenic Area (黄龙景区) Famous for its terraced calcified pools, Huanglong feels like walking through a magical world of turquoise and gold. The hike up to the Five-Color Pond (五彩池) is scenic but not for the faint-hearted — it starts at 3,200m and ends above 3,500m! 😮 🔹 TIP: ✨ Take the cable car up, then hike down if you’re not used to high altitudes ✨ Bring oxygen cans, go slow, and hydrate ✨ Wear sunblock, a hat, and sunglasses — the sun is deceptively strong at high altitudes ✨ Bring your own snacks — food options at the entrance are pricey and limited ⸻ 📍Day 2–3: Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟) Nothing prepared me for how breathtaking Jiuzhaigou would be. Think multi-tiered waterfalls, crystal-clear lakes, and lush forests. You’ll ride a sightseeing bus that stops at the main attractions like Mirror Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall, and Five Flower Lake. 🔹 TIP: ✨ Get to the park before 7:30am to beat the queue ✨ Bring your own self-heating meals or snacks — food inside is expensive ✨ Choose a multi-day pass if possible, so you can enjoy the views at a slower pace ✨ Try to visit after a rainfall for even clearer water and fewer crowds ⸻ 🧳 Summer Travel Must-Haves: • 🧴 SPF 50+ sunscreen • 🧢 Hat and UV-blocking sunglasses with comfy waking shoes. JiuZhaiGou is another 5A tourist destination that is well worth visiting. The name JiuZhaiGou is Chinese for 'Nine Village Valley' because in the past, there were nine Tibetan villages along these streams. Our plan is to take a train from Chengdu to Huanglong in the morning. After touring Huanglong, we will take a bus parked next to the hotel to JiuZhaiGou and stay for one night to fully explore JiuZhaiGou before returning to Chengdu.

Jiuzhaigou Review + How to get to Huanglongjiuzhai Station ✅The entrance has a wide staircase on the left. Walk up to join the queue. Choose to join anywhere. ✅If you have bought a ticket from Trip.com, you can scan your passport to enter. ✅After scanning, you will get on the park bus. ⚠️It is recommended to sit on the winding road, quite a long distance. ✅Depending on whether the car will take you to the left or the right. ‼️If you go left or right, the staff on the bus will inform you on the bus after passing Nuerliang, the center point (in Chinese). 🌀We went left first.. ✅The car took us to Long lake —> walk ~1 km —> reach 五彩池. It is recommended to walk a bit further. There will be fewer people. Don't rush to stop and take pictures. ✅Finish and walk to get on the bus to return to Nuerlang (center) ⚠️It is recommended to finish on the left side, finish before 11.30 🌀Center (Nuerlang) ✅Stop for lunch here 📌Eat at the hamburger shop on the left side, convenient and fast ▶️▶️18 yuan curry rice, tastes good, rice is just right + protein that is not a soul ✅Walk down the stairs to the point that looks like a lot of shops, walk straight through those shops to the end, then turn left ⬅️⬅️ to get on the bus to the right side 🌀Right side ✅Go to the end of the road at the ancient forest 原始深林 This point is a forest of tall, shady trees ⚠️It is recommended to walk up the stairs to see the atmosphere a bit and then come down to continue ✅There are many points on the right side. Take the hop-on hop-off bus to various points. Highlights on the right side, recommended as follows: 📌Prehistoric Forest 📌Bamboo Arrow Lake + Panda Lake 📌Five-Color Lake ⚠️Here, walk on the right side, it's closer than the left side. 📌Pearl Stream Waterfall (a scene from Journey to the West) 📌Mirror Lake —> Finish, take the bus to the middle (Nuo Ru Lang) 🌀Middle (Nuo Ru Lang) + at the Y-leg ✅Go down the stairs to the original shop, walk to the end, and turn to the right to take the bus ▶️▶️ to visit the lower part of the Y. Highlights ✅Nuo Ru Lang Waterfall ⚠️Walk up and down the stairs quite a distance. ⚠️Go back and forth the same way to get on the bus, head to the exit. 📌Along the way, you can stop at other points, Hop on Hop off as you like. ✅Rhino Lake ✅Tiger Lake ✅Suzheng Waterfall ✅Pen Jing Tan ⚠️If you can't handle it, when you get on the bus at Nuerlang Waterfall, you can sit all the way to the exit. ⚠️On the way down, sit on the right side of the bus to see the view from the bus. ▶️▶️ Recommendations 📌 Travel to Jiuzhaigou, walk 22,000++ steps. 📌Take the whole day, from 8.30-17.00. 📌There are a lot of people, but the management is very good at every point, such as queuing to scan passports to enter the park until getting on the bus, which takes only ~15 minutes. Taking a bus in the park is usually crowded with Chinese people. Just follow each other to get on the bus, so you don't have to wait long. 📌There are bathrooms at almost every bus station and they are very clean. 📌There are not many snack booths, not a lot of variety, not at every point / The main food is to eat at Nuerlang. 📌You should find a place to stay near the entrance. Day 2-4 Booked a 3-day 2-night tour on Ctrip - Panda Paradise + Jiuhuang. *Altitude sickness varies from person to person, get enough sleep and rest. And also before tap/scan in metro station. Most of the time, i prefer take bus if is just few stations and not far away (within 20-45mins).

super lucky to get good weather on our day of visit. on the mountains and highlands, you’re never sure of what weather you’re gonna get, the day before it was all rainy. anyway the whole scenic area of JZG is simply breath taking, the good weather was a bonus for great pictures and walk. the lake showcase different shades of blue and green, very pristine. prob will look better in a couple of months when the water level rises. great to see the mgmt taking good care of the place. lotsa good and shopping inside too concentrated at nuorilang. #jiuzhaigou #九寨沟

Jiuzhaigou 3 days and 2 nights from Chengdu It is very cool here with an altitude of more than 2500m. It is comfortable to come here in summer. To come from Chengdu, you need to take the high-speed rail (3-4 trains a day) - transfer - luxury bus to Jiuzhaigou. Don't worry about the time because the high-speed rail is connected. The high-speed rail in Chengdu takes 90 minutes, and the bus takes 120 minutes (the bus goes directly to the hotel). It is the same for both ways. I highly recommend that you come to Jiuzhaigou without joining a group. It is a very rushed itinerary (usually leaving at lunch time in the morning or afternoon). We walked from 8 am to 5 pm. It is really not small inside, with a round trip of 98km. There are too many attractions, so it is difficult to see all the attractions at once. We walked more than 30,000 steps here.
