Nestled on the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, Dalian is a vibrant port city that seamlessly blends natural beauty, colonial heritage, and contemporary flair.
My journey began at Xinghai Square, the world's largest city square, covering 110 hectares. This expansive space, created through land reclamation, is adorned with sculptures, fountains, and open lawns, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
A short stroll led me to Laodong Park, a verdant oasis in the city's heart. Established in 1898, the park boasts a rich history, having undergone various transformations under Russian and Japanese influences. Today, it offers serene landscapes, a lotus pond, and even a ski slope during winter months.
Dalian's coastal allure is undeniable. The city's beaches, such as Tiger Beach and Fujiazhuang Beach, offer golden sands and clear waters, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. The Binhai Road, a scenic coastal drive, provides breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and is ideal for cycling or leisurely drives.
For a touch of history, I visited the Lüshun Museum, which houses artifacts from the region's past, including relics from the Russo-Japanese War.
