#summervacay On my way out of Copenhagen, I followed the train tracks to Helsingør, and that's where I discovered the incredible Danish Maritime Museum (M/S Museet for Søfart)! Founded in 1915, this museum is a treasure trove, housing artifacts and permanent exhibitions related to Danish maritime history and shipping from the 15th century all the way to the present day. It's fascinating! 🌊 The museum itself is a marvel of design! Conceptualized as a "deck," it gradually descends from ground level, creating a massive 7600 square meter underground space. This clever design limits its height to preserve the stunning views of nearby Kronborg Castle – how thoughtful! I visited during that charming time of summer when the weather shifts between cool and warm. While there, I caught a special exhibition on Korean "haenyeo" (sea women), which was so unique! And what truly left a lasting impression were the powerful exhibits detailing Denmark's trade history with China and India dating back to the Napoleonic Wars. It really gave me a sense of the vast global connections of maritime trade! You can hop on a train from Copenhagen (Copenhagen Central Station) and be there in just about 40 minutes. Once you get off, it's a really short walk. You can grab your tickets right at the entrance. #summervacay Bornholm in the summer is absolutely unbeatable! Seriously, even if it's winter, I'd move here for a month just to soak up the summer vibes. Imagine: walking along the coast, just chilling out, counting seagulls, picnicking to your heart's content, letting your dog run free, admiring those beautiful Danish colorful houses, chatting and drinking with friends, and even spotting wild bison! Copenhagen? Honestly, it pales in comparison, haha! Don't miss the island's own craft beer (a source of pride for all of Denmark!) and their unique herring, which you won't find anywhere else. The way the light hits the architecture and gardens here (and at other museums!) truly elevates the experience. Solo Strolling is Bliss! 🚶♀️ Honestly, if you're comfortable with it, visiting alone is fantastic! You can truly immerse yourself, spend as long as you want at each piece, and explore exactly what interests you without having to consider anyone else's pace or preferences. Pure freedom! What You'll Love About the Glyptotek! 💚 Right after you get past the ticket check, you'll immediately notice how beautifully the museum's lush greenery, sculptures, and architecture blend together. When the sun shines through, it absolutely floods the central atrium with life and light – it's just stunning! 🤩 Most of the artworks have accompanying explanations, and some even offer audio guides (in Danish/English), which are really interesting to listen to and add so much depth to your visit. #summervacay Located in the city center, the Round Tower is small and unassuming. Entry is free, but climbing to the top requires a separate ticket (60 DKK), and unfortunately, the Copenhagen Card doesn’t cover it. I was too rushed and didn’t want to pay extra, so I skipped the climb—now I really regret it! The ascent is a gentle spiral ramp, not stairs, making it very easy to climb. Inside, the design is pure white and minimalist, perfect for photos.
