Another Old Town in Chengdu: Luodai Ancient Town
Luodai Ancient Town used to be a place where the Central Plains culture of China and the ethnic minorities of the southwestern region met and exchanged. It was also one of the starting points of the Silk Road, with countless people and stories passing through this historical place. Despite the passage of time, this place has preserved its ancient appearance well. Walking along the quiet alleys, you can feel the style of the old times.
Among them, the four large Hakka assembly halls, such as the Guangdong Hall and the Huguang Hall, are important cultural relics of this place and have been designated as national-level cultural relics of China.
If you want to feel the past life of the Hakka people, or even if not, just the beauty of this place alone is worth a visit.
Luotai Ancient Town
On the Chengdu Plain in China, there are many villages scattered around. One of them is the “Luotai” village. The reason it is called the “black sheep” village is because the people in this village speak a different language from the people in the surrounding villages. However, their language is similar to the Hakka or Kejia people who live thousands of miles away in the border area of Guangdong and Fujian provinces. 🍃
