Instantly gorgeous
I went to Mito Botanical Garden to see the jade vine. The jade color is a rare sight on plants, and it's a truly beautiful blue. There are many beautifully blooming plants both outside and in the greenhouse, and the best time to enjoy them is now.
Until recently, the plum garden was wonderful, but the Yomeishu herb garden also seems to have a long way to go.
If you plan on visiting the gardens, which change their appearance with each season, several times a year, I recommend purchasing an annual pass! #MitoCity #PlumKotatsu
Mito Plum Festival
One of Japan's three great gardens, Kairakuen, has been hosting the Plum Festival since February 11. Thanks to the warmth of March, the plum blossoms are nearly in full bloom. Many people have also visited Senba Lake and Senba Park, which are adjacent to Kairakuen. The plum blossoms have a very pleasant fragrance, making you feel that spring is just around the corner. Although it snowed on March 3, it seems that the scenic beauty could still be enjoyed. Since Senba Lake has a circumference of 3 km, it might be nice to take a walk around it.
To coincide with the Plum Festival
The area around Kodokan is lit up to coincide with the Kairakuen Plum Festival. The second floor of the restored gate was open to the public. March 1st was a very warm day, so the plum blossoms should have started to bloom toward full bloom.
It's a great place to enjoy many different kinds of plum blossoms, but it also has a different look at night, which is quite nice.
The event is only held on weekends and holidays, so make time to go and see it, and you'll appreciate how good it is. It looks like it's going to get colder from next week...

[Autumn leaves and history] Enjoy a day trip to Mito in the fall🍁🚆
🍁Autumn Day Trip to Mito🍁
On a refreshing autumn day in October 2024, I went on a day trip from Tokyo to Mito City in Ibaraki Prefecture! 🌿🚆
🌅 Morning: To Mito on the Hitachi Express
I got up early in the morning and boarded the Hitachi Express🚄 from Shinagawa Station. I arrived at Mito Station in about 1.5 hours! The view from the train window was autumnal, and I was excited to start my journey✨
🍂 Kairakuen: Impressed by the beauty of the autumn leaves
The first place I went to was Kairakuen🍁. This is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, and the autumn leaves are very beautiful. In the "Autumn Leaves Room", the bright red leaves looked like a painting! 🖼️✨ I also stopped by Kobuntei and enjoyed a panoramic view of the garden from the second floor. We also saw the Taro Cedar tree, which is over 1,000 years old, and were overwhelmed by its grandeur 🌲😲
🦢 A leisurely stroll around Lake Senba
The next place we visited was Lake Senba🌊. It was great to eat soft serve ice cream🍦 while strolling around the lake! Black swans🖤 and swans🤍 were swimming gracefully on the lake, and the tranquil scenery was soothing.
🏯 Afternoon: Feel the history at Kodokan
In the afternoon, we went to Kodokan📖, where we learned about the history of Mito. This is one of the largest domain schools in Japan, built during the Edo period, and is a place where you can feel the history and culture of the Mito domain. In a calm atmosphere, we took our time to look around the old school🏯✨
🌙 Evening: Take the Hitachi Express to Tokyo
The fun time flew by! In the evening, we took the Hitachi Express🚆 from Mito Station back to Tokyo. It was a wonderful autumn day where I was able to enjoy the autumn leaves, history, and nature 🍂💖
I want to visit Mito again! ✨

[Mito, Ibaraki] A hotel with a wonderful open-air courtyard
📍Mito Plaza Hotel
2078-1 Senba-cho, Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture
It is said to be a hotel that remembers happiness
The forest inside the hotel~💕💕
The atrium garden is amazing👏👏👏
It's like a guesthouse in the forest💕
The interior designer is none other than J.D. Edison, the great-grandson of the famous inventor Thomas Edison!
The floor is also very distinctive.
The American breakfast served in the courtyard where light pours in through the glass ceiling was also excellent.
It is located in the center of Mito City, so transportation access is good
It is also convenient for sightseeing at Kairakuen and Hitachinaka Seaside Park.

Lunch & Izakaya
The restaurant is called "Koyuku." They serve lunch from 11:00 to 15:00, and become an izakaya from 17:00 to 23:00.
The owner is a great person 😃 It's a family-run restaurant with a warm atmosphere. Today I had the hamburger steak lunch. It comes with clam miso soup and a salad full of vegetables. The rice is just right, and the pickles are excellent! There is also a raised area, so you can hold parties. #MitoCity #Ippin
Hydrangea
Hydrangeas are in full bloom during the rainy season. Howaen has long been famous as a hydrangea spot.
The grave of Itaru-san, famous for the Mito Komon series, is located in the neighboring Tokiwa Public Cemetery. Today, the sky was cloudy between the rainy seasons. Many people were in sight. #MitoCity #Sanyason
The local Chinese food is excellent
This is a famous local Chinese restaurant located near the Adastria Mito Arena. There is always a line at lunchtime.
The gyoza, which can be eaten with just vinegar, is the best. Of course, chili oil and soy sauce are good too, but I prefer vinegar! When you come to Rai Rai Ken, you can't go wrong with the gyoza.
I can handle any kind of noodles, but lately I've been hooked on salt ramen.
The Cantonese noodles are quite difficult to eat because of the heat, but they are also delicious.
The fried rice is also very light and fluffy.
The restaurant is closed on Mondays, but please note that once they sell out, they're gone. #MitoCity #AdastriaMito
