Dormy Inn Niigata was our second Dormy Inn stay this trip, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The room was beautifully set up with tatami mats and flooring, which gave it a warm, traditional Japanese touch. My daughter took the western-style bed while I opted for the tatami — and I must say, I had an incredibly restful sleep. One of the highlights of Dormy Inn hotels is their thoughtful perks. We enjoyed the complimentary ramen served at night, and waking up to a free Yakult drink in the morning was such a nice touch. It’s these little gestures that make a big difference. Unfortunately, their champon—something we were looking forward to—had already sold out for the day. That was a little disappointing, but what stood out was how warm and friendly the staff were. Despite the language barrier, they really tried their best to communicate with us, smiling and pointing to menu items to help us make our decision. It was a small gesture, but one we truly appreciated. We eventually settled on the char siew ramen. It came quickly, and we were seated right at the counter with a great view of the kitchen. Watching the chefs prepare our ramen just a few feet away added to the whole experience—it gave the place a cozy, authentic vibe.
