Taksim Square
Taksim Square, one of the most visited tourist spots in Istanbul, is located in Beyoglu, on the European side of the city in Turkey. It serves as a transit point for locals to truly experience the place, filled with all kinds of shops, iconic buildings and cultural centers.
The famous Republican Monument, standing in the heart of this square, is a handcrafted sculpture by Pietro Canonica, which commemorates the founding of the Turkish Republic.
The square used to be the epicenter of the main water pipes from the north of the city, where the collected water was diverted to other parts of the city.

Ride the old tram. Don’t miss the chance to take the small, red, old tram to go around the places near Taksim. The tram connects popular tourist places near Taksim and runs at intervals of ten minutes.
