Dining in a Post Office?
This post office turned into a retro styled Kopitiam named Kafei Dian has a long history behind it. Built in 1911, the cafe now serves meals from 7.30am to 10pm (except Tuesday, till 5.30pm).
Expect the usual local fares like nasi lemak, kaya and butter toast, dimsum, noodles and coffee while dinner includes western food such as Chicken Chop etc. It's worth noting that this establishment serves no pork or lard (Muslim friendly).
Breakfast and lunch are usually packed with locals and tourists since it is very near to tourist hot-spot like Kwai Chai Hong and Chinatown. However, the environment is pretty chilled at night with friendly staffs. Food wise, they are quite standard with wide range of variety, be it snacks or proper meal. Worth a visit if you are around the area :)

The Many Store Vendors with Local Food
Many locals and foreigners when visiting hyderabad will head to the streets of charminar located at Charminar Rd, Char Kamam, Ghansi Bazaar, Hyderabad where you will see a wide array of stalls not only selling apparels like Sari and clothing, or cups or souvenir but instead local food prepared by these street vendors themselves.
Of course, many will say that you will require a strong stomach due to the unhygienic way they prepare, but what I recommend is watch them prepare infront of you instead or head to the stalls where most locals buy from and you will know these are the popular and clean ones loved by the locals here.
Most of the food sold here have prices on them so that you do not be quoted a foreigner price instead. So what are you waiting for, come to the street of Charminar in Hyderabad and make this a bucketlist experience like no other!

Bukit Merah Food Centre - One Of The Oldest
Do you know that Bukit Merah Central Food Centre has been around for ages where the food centre has many stalls that has been in the business for very long. You will see long queues during lunch hour especially the popular stalls.
Located at 163 bukit merah Central, there are more than 40 over food stalls here selling from noodles like our local charity kuey teow and fish balls, or nasi lemak to even takeaway east to eat snacks like fried dough fritters and Indian rojak, and of course the standard chicken rice and such!
Well if you asknme what's my favourite, it got to be the satay beehoon, but the queue is too long that I don't bother to wait. But you should go here with an empty stomach because every stall here will satisfy that hungry tummy of yours!

Local Delights @ Bukit Timah
Address - 51 Upper Bukit Timah Road (588215).
Getting there - 1 minute walk from Beauty World MRT Exit C.
Highlights - Many yummy local delights from 80 stalls to choose
Avg. Price per Person - < $10
Rating - 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Have this craving for braised pork ribs noodles and was recommended to check it out here.
Cost only $5 for a hearty plate of pork rib horfun. The horfun is aromatic with “wok hey” (charred aroma from the wok) and the very soft pork ribs braised long hours just make it irresistible despite a big plate. I must finished it! Not only that, I added a slab of freshly roasted pork with crackling skin. This is so satisfying.
I topped it up with the very popular Nonya Chendol which they claimed that the coconut milk is of high quality as good as the one used in Goodwood Hotel. 🤔 So I must try. From the long queue, I can guess it must be really good. $2.30 for a decently sized chendol with red bean topping. The Gula Melaka is fragrant with the right sweetness, not too sweet. And the coconut milk is thick enough to bring out the fragrance, not watered down.
There are many more stalls worth checking out but that’s enough for me for today. Very hearty and satisfying. Will make another trip on another day for other yummy local foods.

A Taste of Tradition: Penang Road Cendol
#penangtrip
If there’s one thing you must try in Penang, it’s the iconic Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul. Located along Lebuh Keng Kwee, this unassuming roadside stall has been dishing out bowls of cendol goodness for decades, and it’s as popular today as ever. The sight of locals and tourists huddled around the stall, patiently waiting for their turn, tells you just how beloved this dessert is.
What makes Penang Road Cendol stand out is its simplicity and freshness. The bowl is filled with finely shaved ice, drenched in creamy coconut milk, and topped with pandan-flavored green rice flour jelly (cendol). The rich, dark gula melaka (palm sugar syrup) is the star of the show, providing a smoky sweetness that ties everything together perfectly. Add to that the soft red beans, and you've got a dessert that’s not too heavy but satisfying enough to beat the tropical heat.
One of the best parts of eating cendol here is the atmosphere. You’ll be standing or sitting on stools in the middle of a bustling street, with the clatter of bowls and chatter of the crowd adding to the experience. It’s authentic, it’s flavorful, and it’s quintessentially Penang.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, a bowl of cendol from Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul is a must on your foodie checklist. Refreshing, delicious, and steeped in tradition, this is a taste of Penang you won’t forget.
