A dream come true - Pyramids and camel ride
This trip has always been on our bucket list. Have you ever seen something in so many text books and movies and then have that awkward feeling of realisation that you’re actually standing right in front of it?
We did with the Pyramids. As one of Egypt’s iconic archaeological sites, the Giza Pyramid complex (including the Sphinx) is a must for anyone in this world. What made it even more special for us, is exploring this on a camel (first time camel riding)!
Whilst in Cairo, we also visited the Egyptian museum and the Papyrus Institute. The trip also featured a trip on the Nile on a felucca (a traditional Egyptian wooden boat) and a lunch on the Nile on a floating restaurant. We traveled from Sharm El-Sheikh by bus (27 hours in total) and it was 100% worth it!

Cigarette time with the Great Sphinx of Giza.
The best one day trip I had since a long time in my life. Book yourself for a one day private tour around Cairo (€100 for 2 people) with pyramid viewing (tickets to buy separately) to begin with. Book yourself in the a hotel with the pyramids view. Wake up in the morning enjoy your breakfast on a balcony with the Great Sphinx and the pyramids just in front of you. After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel by your private tour guide and your driver.A must do is to make sure you find the trip with a quad safari around the pyramids desserts afterwards. Get around Cairo and stop in a few shops and the museums of Papyrus paper. Have a lunch in one of the best local restaurants to finish off this short but adventurous day in Cairo before you move in the evening on a flight to the Red Sea. #the great Sphinx of Giza#sphinx#cairo#one day in Cairo#pyramids #giza Pyramids
Face to Face with the Ancient World – The Pyramids & The Sphinx

Finally stood before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the mysterious Sphinx—and yes, they’re every bit as awe-inspiring as you imagine (maybe even more).
📍 Just outside of Cairo, the Giza Plateau is home to the last remaining wonder of the ancient world: the Great Pyramid of Khufu. It’s over 4,500 years old and was the tallest man-made structure on Earth for nearly 4,000 years!
Alongside it are the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, each with their own unique features and mysteries. These massive tombs were built to honor pharaohs and ensure their journey to the afterlife.
🧩 And then there’s the Great Sphinx—half lion, half man—guarding the plateau with a silent, watchful gaze. Believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre, it’s carved from a single block of limestone and is one of the oldest and largest statues in the world.
A Roman Era attraction to see this spring!

This place has great historical significance and a nice attraction to visit in Alexandria during spring season. The granite column and sphinx are well crafted and beautiful to look at. There is also a nice cafeteria here for refreshments and a souvenir shop to get some nice collectibles. There isn’t much to do here so you can cover this place in an hour. However, there are a few attractions close by such as the Catacombs. You will also meet some cute cats here who are always strolling around. Do check it out.
Smiling at the Sphinx
The pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx need no introduction. The only survivor of the 7 wonders of the ancient world the pyramids over 4600 years old. A visit to Giza should be on everyone’s bucket list. These ancient wonders are truly breathtaking to behold. The weather in Egypt is pretty much sunny all year around so it can be a great destination for some winter sun and ancient cultural discoveries.
