Stay and Tour at a 500-Year-Old Monastery in Disentis, Switzerland!
Take a three-hour train ride from Zurich to reach the idyllic town of Disentis, a true "Swiss mountain retreat" with incredibly fresh air!
The town is home to the 500-year-old Kloster Disentis monastery, which not only preserves its historical interior design but also offers accommodations for visitors 🤩
The rooms feature simple wooden furniture, including just a bed, a bathroom, and a desk with a wooden chair. Only basic amenities like a toothbrush and soap are provided, embodying the monastery's minimalist charm.
The monastery hotel also serves breakfast, with ingredients sourced directly from the farm behind the monastery! Freshly baked croissants are unlimited, along with cheese and ham—eat as much as you like! The cheese has a rich, creamy flavor that pairs perfectly with the croissants 😌
After breakfast, the deputy abbot leads a tour: surprisingly, there's an international school next to the monastery, and the deputy abbot is also the principal! The tour includes a visit to a 500-year-old underground passage and the still-operational main chapel, which is awe-inspiring in its grandeur 😌
Before leaving, you can stop by the gift shop at the entrance to purchase monastery-made wheat biscuits. Though they only last seven days and shouldn't be refrigerated, they remain crispy even after bringing them back to Hong Kong!
🗓️ Itinerary: Take a train from Zurich to Disentis station, then walk 10 minutes uphill. At least one transfer is required during the journey.

Lake Geneva is huge
Just explore along the lake
There are already many attractions
The Palais des Nations 🏛️ located on the edge of Lake Geneva
After World War II, the Palace of Nations was owned by the United Nations 🇺🇳
It then became the seat of the United Nations Office in Geneva
Come and see the flags of all nations flying🚩
There is a huge sculpture "Bench with Broken Legs" 🦵🏻 in the Plaza of the Palace of Nations

The miserable experience that landmines in war brought to innocent people❤️🩹
There is also a L'horloge fleurie from the English garden on the shores of Lake Geneva 🌸🌼
This English garden was built in 1854🌳
There is another park nearby called Prism Park🌲
This park is also known as Reform Park🍀
Because the park has an eye-catching Reformation Wall monument🗿
In 1517 the church of the time was criticized by Martin Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Henry VIII and other theologians
Launched a religious reform
The monumental statue commends the reforms made by John Calvin and other theologians
There is also a very interesting life-size chessboard♟️ at the northern end of the park
There are quite a few people playing chess here
It feels like the Victoria Park man playing chess in Hong Kong ~🤡

🇨🇭 Visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne to see the Olympic medals
#2024 Travel Review
Lausanne, like neighboring Geneva
It is the headquarters of many international organizations🏬
The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee was located in Lausanne in 1915
That's why Lausanne is also known as the 'Olympic Capital'.
But it was not until 1993 that the Olympic museum was built
Reopened after renovation in 2014🎊
Come to Lausanne on a Monday, the museum is not open
As a result, come again on Wednesday
Finally entered the museum
The best part is that you can exchange tickets to enter the visit with your Swiss Pass🎫
There is a gallery and library on the ground floor📚
The first floor exhibition hall serves as an exhibit for ancient Olympic tracing and previous Winter and Summer Olympics
From the first Athens Olympics to the present
Almost tens of thousands of collectibles are on display here🖼️
For example, the sacred torch of previous Olympic Games
Olympic winner's medal🥇🥈🥉
The mascot of previous Olympic Games
There are also some multimedia 🖥️ and interactive e-sports exhibits in the museum
For example, you can simulate the Winter Olympics snowboarders participating in the competition🏂
The outdoor part also has athletics facilities such as track and field
Plus a lot of private seats 🪑🪑
Just sit and watch the scenery of Geneva 🏞️
Already able to spend a whole day💜

🇨🇭 St. Peter's Basilica in Geneva | Climb to the top of the tower and look at the fountain
#2024 Travel Review
There is always a church in every town in Europe⛪️
Their churches are like Chinese ancestral halls
Usually the residents of the village gather there to meet and chat
So St. Pierre Cathedral in Geneva ⛪️
And different
It has become a tourist hotspot📸
Just pay seven Swiss francs 🇨🇭
You can walk to the top of the tower to see the scenery 🏞️
The spiral staircase to the top of the tower is narrow
It can only accommodate one person 🚶🏻
The south tower can only reach half of the tower
But the North Tower can be walked to the top of the tower🕍
View of the entire Lake Geneva and the large fountain on the lake⛲️

Climbing the top of Europe’s Jungfraujoch🏔️ is like walking into a white fairy tale world❄️❄️
#2024 Travel Review
When deciding to go to Switzerland 🇨🇭
The first thing I wanted to do was climb the Jungfraujoch, the pinnacle of Europe
A few days in the small town of Grindelwald is the best option☀️
And you can enjoy the characteristics of the town here
And it is very convenient to climb Jungfraujoch🏔️
Just take a 15-minute train ride from grindelwald to the grindelwald terminal🛤️
You can take the latest eiger express cable car 🚡
Eiger express is new and big, a cable car can seat about 20 people 🚠🚠
And spacious large glass
You can enjoy the scenery while 🏔️⛰️🗻
Eigergletscher, a stopover where the Eiger express stops
You can transfer to the traditional red glacier car 🚂🚂 for mountaineering
Even closer access to glaciers is at Eigergletscher
I was lucky enough to meet a fox here🦊
The glacier train that hit the summit will give passengers five minutes to get off midway
Enjoy the glacier from the observation deck ❄️❄️❄️
Then you will go straight to the Jungfrau Observation Deck Terminal🏢
Arrive at the Maiden Peak Observation Deck
There are many different toys📸📸
It can allow people to travel slowly
Of course inseparable from climbing the observation deck to take photos of this trip
You can also sit in the restaurant and enjoy the food and glaciers 🏔️🏔️
It is very important to book online before going to Jungfraujoch🎫
Cable cars for mountaineering in Switzerland are all operated by private companies
The website will ask you how much time you budget to stay on the mountain🗻
If your schedule is not too tight
I highly recommend you stay in the mountains and play all day
There are already countless check-in spots 🏞️🌅🌄
You can also eat and play blister ⛷️
And this mountaineering train ticket costs $1600 HKD🤑🤑
Of course don't waste money

Switzerland’s natural wonder: Glacier Grand Canyon, the most exciting tourist attraction in 2024
#2024 Travel Review
Grindelwald, a snowy mountain town in Switzerland
During the Ice Age 10,000 years ago 🧊🧊🧊
is completely covered by glaciers❄️
After the glaciers receded produced a lot of erosion
thus forming the 'glacial canyon'.
Glacier Canyon
Walking in the Grand Canyon is really cold 🥶🥶🥶
There are already glaciers all around itself
Plus, the water that flows in the river valley is ice water that melts glaciers
And the canyon is cramped and the sun cannot shoot in
It really gets colder as you go
However the canyon is very long
There is a haha mirror at the end along the developed path
Very interesting😁
There are many explanatory signs along the way explaining how the Glacier Grand Canyon was formed!
There is also a spider web near the entrance
You can walk up and feel floating in the canyon
It's really a test of courage 😅
It is highly recommended to book tickets online first
Take a bus from Grindelwald Bus Terminal to Gletscherschlucht
After getting off at the terminal is the entrance to Glacier Canyon

Innsbruck, Austria's gateway to the Alps
#2024TravelReview
On the way from Munich to the Dolomites in Italy, we stopped at the beautiful mountain town of #Innsbruck in Austria. Since it is close to the Alps, you can take pictures of the majestic snow-capped mountains behind you from the city streets, so it is also a popular tourist attraction.
The city of Innsbruck is not large, but it has a superior geographical location and the Alps as its unique backdrop, so it is quite photogenic. The Goldenes Dachl, the golden roof, and the Stadtturm, the town hall tower, located in the downtown area, are arguably the most famous buildings in Innsbruck. The cathedral and the Hofburg are also not to be missed.
The Innsbruck Cathedral, Dom Zu St. Jakob, was originally a typical Gothic building, but it was rebuilt in Baroque style after a fire. The painting "Madonna and Child" on the main altar is very famous. Innsbruck also has a royal palace, but it is not as large.
By the way, there are also two attractions outside the tourist service center, namely the Annasäule, which commemorates the eradication of the Black Death, and the Arc de Triomphe, which can be seen in many European cities.

Summer resorts at the foot of the Zugspitze: Garmisch and Partenkirchen GP, small towns
#2024TravelReview
Visit the summer resorts at the foot of Germany's highest peak #Zugspitze, #Garmisch and #Partenkirchen, twin cities merged for the Winter Olympics, referred to as "GP Town".
The GP town has become a ski resort because of the Winter Olympics. Also, because it is located at the foot of the Zugspitze, you can see the Zugspitze from any angle in the city, making it particularly beautiful for taking pictures.
In the town, frescoes can be seen everywhere on the buildings. Frescoes are a very durable wall painting technique, which is very beneficial to the preservation of art. So when you walk into the GP town, you will feel like you have arrived in medieval Europe.

Lake Lugano, a famous holiday resort in the Southern Alps
#2024TravelReview
Travel through Switzerland and cross the border between Italy and Switzerland to the beautiful #LakeLugano, which has a mild Mediterranean climate and is planted with palm trees and citrus trees. It is a famous resort in the Southern Alps.
Lake Lugano is very large, with many attractions and towns to stay in. The first place we came to was the check-in landmark "I love Lugano". Next to it was the yacht pier, so we could take a boat to tour the lake. The weather was great and we could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Lugano surrounded by mountains by boat.
A boat trip on the lake is the best way to appreciate the diverse beauty of Lake Lugano, such as the Morgote district, which has many beautiful mansions; the literary style of the Church of Santa Maria in Sasso, the charming fishing village of Gandria, etc.
There are many alpine lakes in the border area between Switzerland and Italy. In addition to Lake Lugano, there is also the famous #ComoLakeLake Como, which are all worth visiting.

The Pearl of the Alps, the stunning destination of East Dolomites: Lago di Braies
Lago di Braies, located in the East Dolomites of Northern Italy, is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes, known as the 'Pearl of the Alps.' Surrounded by towering peaks, the lake's crystal-clear blue waters reflect the mountains, creating a serene and picturesque scene.
The East Dolomites region has always been a favorite among tourists due to its convenient transportation. Even without a car, visitors can easily reach the lake by taking bus number 422, making it a popular tourist spot.
While Lago di Braies is undeniably beautiful, it is also quite commercialized and crowded with tourists. The associated costs are not cheap either. Parking costs €10 for 3 hours, and renting a boat for a picturesque row on the lake is €50 for a private boat for 45 minutes or €15 per person for a shared boat for 45 minutes, which can be quite shocking.
However, you don't need to spend extra money to enjoy the lake. A walk around the lake on the trail takes about 1.5-2 hours and offers stunning views. The lake has no fences, so it's easy to walk down to the water and enjoy a relaxing time.
Chamonix, a ski resort in Europe, is located at the border of France, Switzerland and Italy.
#2024TravelReview
If you want to see the highest peak in the Alps, #Mont Blanc, the best way is to stay overnight in #Chamonix on the border of France, Italy and Switzerland, and take the cable car to the top of Aiguille du Midi the next morning. It only takes 20 minutes and you can see the spectacular Mont Blanc up close.
Chamonix has a very advantageous geographical location. It is located in the southeast of France, close to Switzerland and Italy. It can be reached in about 20 minutes by car, so it has become a popular tourist destination.
In addition to taking the cable car to admire the Mont Blanc, the most famous thing is the outlet shopping, especially the mountaineering related equipment and clothes. Those extremely expensive mountaineering brands are incredibly cheap here!
The first Winter Olympics was held in Chamonix, making it a well-known ski paradise in Europe. It also has the highest Aiguille du Midi cable car in Europe, so you have to visit it no matter what.

The most beautiful mountain town in the world, a must-see fairy town on the way to Jungfrau: Grindelwald
#2024TravelReview
Before heading to #Jungfraujoch, you must stop by the beautiful town of #Grindelwald, which has the majestic Eiger Peak as its backdrop and is a green and grassy paradise. Whenever the place is surrounded by clouds and mist, it is full of fairy air, like a fairyland, extremely beautiful.
The Swiss self-guided tour is approaching the Jungfrau. Since we will take the train up the mountain early in the morning, most people will choose to stay in #Interlaken or Grindelwald. In the end, we chose Grindelwald, which is closer to the Jungfrau.
Although Interlaken's lake and mountain scenery is also nice, Grindelwald, surrounded by mountains and green land, feels more natural and simple. Especially when taking a walk in the mountains in the morning, there is a sense of seclusion, isolated from the world.
Grindelwald has been voted as the most beautiful mountain town in the world. As it is a must-go place on the way to the Jungfraujoch, there are actually quite a few tourists. The main street of the town is lined with shops, selling everything from ski equipment, souvenirs, restaurants, supermarkets, and there are also many cute B&B cabins where you can stay for a night.

Beautiful Riverside Town at the Foot of the Alps: Annecy
Annecy, a small town in eastern France at the foot of the Alps, is close to Geneva, Switzerland, and nestled by Lake Annecy. The lake and mountain scenery are exceptionally tranquil and charming. During this Swiss free travel, we stayed one night in Chamonix, France, which allowed us to visit Annecy for a leisurely half-day.
Annecy, surrounded by mountains and water, offers not only the beautiful peaks of the Alps but also the clear and clean Lake Annecy, which is perfect for water activities. A boat trip on the lake is definitely the best choice. The lake's water comes from the melting snow of the Alps, no wonder it's so clear.
In addition, the Thiou River, which winds through the town of Annecy, is like a European fairy tale version of 'small bridges, flowing water, and homes.' From a distance, you can see St. Francis Church on the shore and the Island Palace in the river.
The European version of a water town has a unique romantic feel. Taking a walk on a sunny day is truly delightful.
A Beautiful Swiss Town with 72 Waterfalls: Lauterbrunnen
Can you imagine what a town with 72 waterfalls would look like? During this Swiss trip, although we didn't climb the Jungfrau, we did visit the waterfall town at the foot of the Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen. Visiting in the summer is absolutely refreshing!
The most distinctive feature of Lauterbrunnen, besides the numerous waterfalls, is how the waterfalls are integrated into the daily life of the town. You can enjoy a cup of coffee at an outdoor café with a waterfall as your backdrop! Waterfalls are everywhere, which is pretty cool.
The U-shaped valley, distant snow-capped peaks, and waterfalls cascading down the cliffs on both sides make for beautiful photos. Staubbachfall is one of the more famous waterfalls, standing at 300 meters high, with a spectacular plunge.
Lauterbrunnen is not a large town, but it is definitely worth a stop. You can treat it as a rest stop, leisurely enjoying a cup of coffee in the waterfall town before heading to your next destination.
🇨🇭Switzerland | An underrated town - Lauterbrunnen🏡
Lauterbrunnen is a beautiful valley in Switzerland, famous for its spectacular natural landscapes and magnificent waterfalls. Surrounded by towering mountains, especially the famous Jungfrau region, it has become a paradise for mountaineering and skiing enthusiasts. Lauterbrunnen has 72 waterfalls, the most famous of which is the Staubbach Falls, whose water flows down from a high altitude, forming a spectacular water mist.
Lauterbrunnen is also an ideal hiking destination with many beautiful trails suitable for hikers of all levels. The town itself has retained its traditional Swiss style, with charming wooden houses and friendly locals giving it a warm atmosphere. Whether it is the lush greenery in summer or the snow in winter, it exudes a unique charm and is an ideal place to explore the natural beauty of Switzerland.

Switzerland 🇨🇭Climbing the Jungfraujoch 🗻Top of Europe
Legend has it that Switzerland is a must-visit destination. I finally climbed the highest mountain in Europe. The Jungfrau, 3,571 meters above sea level. The sea of clouds was right under my feet. Fortunately, the weather was good. The sun is the best filter for taking photos. It is recommended to wear all-white clothes. Keep warm (it is very cold on the top of the mountain at high altitude!). Due to the high altitude, there will be altitude sickness. Be careful to slow down and don't run. Altitude sickness: shortness of breath, chest discomfort, dizziness, headache, nausea, etc. Give some time to slowly adapt. Take a break every time you rise a little. Don't go to the highest peak at once. If you don't plan to buy a Swiss pass, it is recommended to at least buy a half-price Swiss pass. Because the ticket price for the Jungfrau is quite expensive. The price of a half-price pass is equivalent to half of the ticket. #Register for December Hotel Test Sleeper #Swiss Travel #Swiss Travel Guide #100 Ways to Travel
Zurich, a city everyone should visit at least once.
I previously went on a business trip to Zurich, a major city in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. I genuinely found this city to be very clean and well-organized. Even if you don't understand German, French, or even English, the transportation system uses simple illustrations, making it easy for tourists to find the corresponding vehicles.
Taking the tram to the city center's commercial area, it doesn't feel commercial at all. Instead, it has a strong classical atmosphere. For lunch, I went to a local Swiss restaurant with unique characteristics. The restaurant was converted from an armory, and I tried a local dish of fried potato with beef, along with the only local soda made from whey protein. It was a very special experience.
💰 Average cost per person: About 38 Swiss Francs, approximately 350 HKD.
Afterwards, I walked to the Zurich Opera House. Nearby, along the river, there are many chairs provided for citizens to relax. Sitting by the river, watching the birds, with the sun shining on the water, and holding a cup of coffee, it's enough to leisurely spend an afternoon.
Switzerland 🇨🇭|A perfect day trip to Spiez and Lake Oeschinensee
You can easily arrange a day trip from Interlaken, starting with a stop in Spiez to admire the charming castle and beautiful scenery by the lake. The café here is also a great place to relax with a cup of coffee.
Next, continue to Lake Oeschinensee, where the water is as clear as emerald and surrounded by magnificent mountains. You can choose to hike around the lake, or take the cable car up the mountain to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views.
It is recommended to set off early so that you can make the most of the day and ensure that you don’t miss any charming moments! Spitz and Lake Oshigen will add infinite color to your trip to Switzerland!

Switzerland 🇨🇭|The tranquil beauty of the Blue Lake (Blausee)
The Blue Lake is a hidden treasure in Switzerland. If you go to Switzerland, you might as well spend a day visiting it. The Blue Lagoon is famous for its crystal clear water, which has an attractive blue color. It is a perfect choice for taking photos or taking a walk.
From Interlaken, you can take a train to the Blue Lake and then walk to the lake. The natural scenery along the way is refreshing. It is recommended to visit in the morning or evening to avoid the crowds and enjoy the tranquility of the lake.
In addition, there are trails around the lake for hiking, and you can also taste local cuisine at the restaurants by the lake. Every moment of the Blue Lake will add unforgettable colors to your trip to Switzerland and let you appreciate the infinite charm of nature!

Switzerland 🇨🇭|Dream Adventure on Jungfrau
I believe everyone has always dreamed of visiting Switzerland, and Switzerland is undoubtedly a tourist attraction that everyone cannot miss. Jungfraujoch is the heart of the Alps. From Interlaken, you can take a train directly to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe.
The scenery along the Swiss train route is always breathtaking, so remember to take advantage of the time you take to appreciate the scenery outside the window.
Here you can admire spectacular glaciers and majestic peaks, but be aware of the risk of altitude sickness. When arriving at high altitudes, it is recommended to acclimate slowly, avoid strenuous exercise, and stay hydrated.
In addition, don’t forget to take photos in the Ice Palace and taste the local Swiss chocolate.
#globaltravel #switzerland #swisstravel
Lake Zurich is beautiful; but Lake Lucerne is even more amazing!
You can go to Lucerne Main Station and walk for 5 minutes to Lucerne Bahnhofquai, where boats depart for Lake Lucerne, which usually takes about 1 hour and 90 minutes. The views are great and the water is so calm that you won't get seasick.
The boat has two floors, with first-class tickets on the second floor and second-class tickets on the first floor. Recommended to be outside rather than inside, the interior smells a bit like gasoline. It will be difficult to find a good seat if you board the plane late. There is also a Swiss flag at the stern, which is a popular spot for taking photos. However, sometimes there are too many people and it is difficult to take photos. It is recommended to wait until the time to disembark.
These boat tours are very popular and most people take the boat to Vitznau, the start of the cogwheel railway to Mount Rigi, or to Fluelen to connect to the Gotthard Panoramic Express. I highly recommend choosing a first class ticket so you can get to the upper decks and there are far fewer people. It was only a few Swiss francs more to use the 1/2 fare pass.

The Queen of the Mountains: A Journey to Mount Rigi
In central Switzerland, near the beautiful city of Lucerne, you'll find the 'Queen of the Mountains' ~ Mount Rigi. This mountain rises high above the surrounding lakes, offering breathtaking views of Switzerland, from the rolling hills in the north to the impressive peaks of the Alps in the south. Mount Rigi is a popular day-trip destination for visitors from all over Switzerland, and it's no surprise given its central location and excellent transportation connections. There are two cogwheel railways that lead to the summit, one departing from Vitznau on the shores of Lake Lucerne, and the other from Arth-Goldau on the Gotthard line. Arth-Goldau station has direct trains to Zurich, Basel, Lucerne, Locarno, and Milan, but you can only reach Vitznau by boat from Lucerne. Whichever route you choose, the journey to the top of Mount Rigi will be one of the highlights of your trip to Switzerland.
The only alpine trail open in winter in the Jungfrau region, enjoy winter hiking
Männlichen is a mountain peak in the Swiss Alps. It is 2,343 meters high. Many people use the pusher when going to the cable car. In winter, many people come to ski. Because I can’t ski, sledding here is really awesome. It’s fun and there are many foreigners playing.
We chose Route 61 (5.5 kilometers), which I heard is relatively gentle, but there are still quite a few steep slopes when paddling. You have to brake with your heels. Often the brakes won’t stop and keep screaming, so you have to turn left. Just touch the ground with your left heel. Many people come here to hike. The Royal Trail is one of the few winter hikes. Please wear appropriate footwear as although the hike is easy, the summit does get icy and so use caution.
You can take the cable car back to Wengen or Grindelwald, from where the cog railway returns.
