Tamsui, Taiwan is a seaside port city that is easy to travel to, only 1 hour from Taipei. When we went, it was drizzling, making the weather cool and comfortable, not hot. And luckily, the rain stopped just as the sun was setting, so we still had a chance to see the sunlight. Overall, very impressive. ❤️🔅 Activities: Walk or cycle along the route from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf to Tamsui Golden Anchor. Choose the time during sunset, the atmosphere is the best, forget about being tired. ☺️🔅 We spent about 2 hours in Tamsui. You can walk around, cycle around and have a simple dinner here. Actually, we planned to stay here for 3 hours, but it was raining on the day we went, so we cut some spots. We also got lost on the MRT. 😂 It took us quite a while to realize it and take the same route back. 📌 Transportation: The easiest way is to take the MRT red line until the end of the line and get off at Tamsui Station. 🧸 But we chose to take the MRT red line and get off at Hongshulin Station to transfer to the Danhai Light Rail, a train line where each station is decorated with the works of Jimmy Liao, a famous Taiwanese cartoon artist. I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tamsui Old Street, and it turned out to be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the charm of Taipei’s waterfront. The moment you step out of the MRT station, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views of the river and distant mountains. The scenery alone, especially at sunset, makes the visit worthwhile, as the golden hues reflect off the water, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. Strolling through the old street, I discovered an array of shops selling local delicacies, handicrafts, and souvenirs. If you have 5 days in Taipei, here something you can do: Day1: Arrived at Taipei Taoyuan Airport in the morning, take trains to Taipei Station, have breakfast and walking trip under street of Taipei Station, take train to 101 Tower, then go to Xi Men Ding district to eat and shopping, at the evening check in hotel and go to Shilin Night Market to have dinner. Day 2: JiuFen Shifen Trip. Suggest to go to JiuFen first (top of hill) as this location is harder to get public transport in the evening. At JiuFen you can enjoy nice meal and do some shopping here. Then you can headed to Shifen. If you want to to visit waterfall you can go earlier other wise come to Shifen railway station during evening is nice to light up the sky lantern with your wishes and send to the air. At night, Jilong Night Market have the best food you can taste. Day 3: Today is hot spring spa day, Beitou district day. Here you can have a nice walk with the local morning market, public library, spa museum, and highly recommend to pick a nice place for spa. I picked Huang Chi Spa / Emperor Spa as they have a unique natural hot spring with natural radium mineral from underground volcanic. Then at night, can visit Raohe St. Night Market, which is the oldest and unique night market for good food. Day 4: Is Tamsui district day. Is a very relax walk by the famous Fisherman’s Wharf harbour. Enjoy some local delicacies, shopping for souvenirs and enjoy your walk along the riverbanks. At night can go to Ningxia night market for food. Day 5: the last day if your flight at evening or night, you can do some final shopping at WuFenPu near the city. Is a fashion clothes wholesale area where you can do some fashion shopping with good price. You may also spend some good time to shop around Taipei Station underground shopping district and have some nice food. There are so many delicious street foods in Tamsui. One of the most famous ones is "Ah Gei" which is well known for their bean curd puffs with glass noodles filled with special sauce. The taste was unique to me. I also recommend the Milk Muah Chee served with crushed peanut. It was so chewy and yummy. Another must-try is "Ah Po Tie Dan" which refers to long hours of braised egg. I like the flavour, but the firm texture is not really to my liking. It was so much fun to walk around Tamsui Old Street and eat the yummy foods. #newyearadventure #tripblazers #tamsui

The sunset in Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf was spectacular. I was left speechless while staring at the beautiful sky and ocean. The sun moved slowly and the sky turned pink, I was amazed by the eye popping colours. There were a lot of ships parked at the pier. You may walk on the bridge and enjoy the scenery. There are restaurants and many street foods around. Such a nice place to get away from a fast-paced life. It's advisable to reach there earlier around 5pm and stay until night time. (You can rent YouBike anywhere in New Taipei City and Taipei City.) Itinerary 📍Sun Park at Xindian to Dadaocheng I always start my trip with my friend at 10a.m. and take a break at Dadaocheng大稻埕. There are a lot of shops there, and we can have some snacks while watching beautiful lake view. 📍Arrival at Tamsui & Tamsui Old Street We arrived at around 2:30p.m. Tamsui old street is famous for its variety of food. I like to enjoy the local food A-gei 阿給 made with tofu and bean threads with special sauce. I also like to drink the plum juice there. 📍Pink sunset on the boat to Bali 八里🌅 After walking the old street, it’s around the time of sunset. It is the perfect time and perfect place to watch the sunset on the boat to Bali 八里. Our trip to Taipei, Taiwan, was a blend of nature, culture, and culinary delights, making it a truly unforgettable experience. Despite the rain and chilly weather, we were excited to explore the city and its surrounding attractions. Yeliu Geopark, where we marveled at the unique rock formations shaped by nature over millennia. From there, we ventured to Shifen where we released sky lanterns, watching them float into the cloudy sky, carrying our wishes and dreams. Next was Jiufen, a charming mountain town with narrow alleyways filled with tea houses and shops. Next day, we explored Beitou, known for its hot springs and relaxing atmosphere. We visited the Old Train Station, a historical gem, and the Beitou Library, a beautiful eco-friendly building surrounded by nature. The highlight was the Thermal Valley, where we felt the warmth of the steaming waters contrasting with the cold air around us. In the evening, we headed to Tamsui to catch the sunset. The view was spectacular, with the sun casting a golden glow over the Tamsui River, creating a perfect backdrop for our photos. We also visited the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a grand monument dedicated to Taiwan's former leader, and Taipei 101, an architectural marvel that offered breathtaking views of the city skyline.Our nights were filled with adventure as we explored Taipei’s famous night markets, Ningxia and Shilin.We indulged in delicious street food, while soaking in the vibrant and lively atmosphere. Taiwan is so dear to my heart. I love their night markets, places and people. On my second trip March of 2024, I visited Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf. I took a train and bus and it was a breeze commuting to this place. Strolling while sipping a cup of coffee and enjoying the view is the best thing to do here. There are also a lot of restaurants around the area in case you get hungry from walking or sitting. There are so many things to explore around this place and I recommend you spend the whole afternoon here. The sunset was magnificent, but the evening view is more magical. #Tamsui
